So I play on lock poker (rev gaming) and am new to cardschat. I was referred to this site from a buddy and thought I would give this a shot. I just started on lock and am really starting to get discouraged. I was an MTT reg on stars before black friday and just have been playing live (2/5) and do very well. I have been referred to lock and everything seems like its running ok. I have HEM2 so I can post anything wanted to this thread if you are asking any info.

So heres the deal, over almost 9k hands, I am down almost 22 buy ins. I know from experience from playing online before that this is bound to happen, (just a shame I started off this way lol). The thing that irritates me the most is that my adjusted EV is -650. To me that seems like its unreal running that far below EV (11 buy ins!!!!) I have run bad live before in cash but nothing like this. What is the correllation between the 2 and what are your suggestions? I did a leakbuster trial thing and in the guide section i have 2 small recommendations (needs attention) which is the lowest possible leak. That is that im raising suited connectors too often and not to overplay my top top type of hands which i have been adjusting. In the second section I have A+ in everything, in position section I have an A as well. Please let me know what you guys think!!

Thanks guys

honestly, 11 bi's isn't fun, but if your an MTT player, you should probably realize your going to go on swings pretty consistently.

What limits are you playing? I"m assuming 20nl ya?

Just grind through it, i'd say your probably playing alright, just starting off bad tbh

Looks like to me your only running 8bi's below EV.Which isn't that much over that sample or any sample to be honest.Your losing 14bi's even with the EV adjusted.Losing at showdown, non showdowns etc.
My suggestion would be DON'T PLAY ANYTHING HIGHER THAN 10NL for right now.

Yeah, it actually looks like you're only 6 BIs below EV (on that graph -> EV looks -$750, winnings looks -$1,050), but frankly, if your EV is down 15ish BIs over 9k hands, you probably have some major leaks and may not really be ready for the stakes you're playing. While 9k hands is a LOL sample, 15 BIs is still a LOT to be down in that time.

I agree that you should drop down to 10NL, or at least 25NL, to prove you are a winning player there first. No reason to bring ego into it - there's no shame in dropping down.

After you've logged say, 20k hands at 10NL, take a look at your graph, stats, etc, and you can start to judge if you are ready to move up. While you are grinding, I suggest you post hands here in the cash game hand analysis section (https://www.cardschat.com/forum/cash-game-hand-analysis-50/), post on other people's hand threads, and talk strategy in the general cash game section.

The prevailing opinion is that online poker cash games are much harder to beat than live poker cash games, so 2/5 live is probably comparable to about 10NL online (differing opinions on this comparison, anyone??).

Good luck, keep posting, and welcome to CC!! :)

9k is not a big enough sample size to get an accurate analysis from Leak Buster. You need around 50 - 60k to get a meaningful reading. Also, you are only running the trial which only analyzes a small amount of your stats. There could be some huge leaks that you don't know about in the areas the trial version doesn't cover.
