Analyze all the big pots where you called a river bet. Think about the range of the villain in every street and try to narrow it down until the river (while hiding his cards). Then maybe you will spot some usual betting patterns by the population which indicate tremendous strength and will be able to recognize them in real time in order not to make the same mistakes again.
Hope this helps.

I asume when you say you need to work on your river call efficiency that you pay off to much. Therefore you need to stop calling with marginal hands and generally call less. Call/Raise when you know you have the best hand.
There is something in HUDs called WTSD(went to showdown) and W$SD(won money on showdown). The lower the WTSD stat is the higher the W$SD will be. That means you went to showdowns with less hands, but with more effeciency cause you get it in when you know you're best. Depending on your strategy your WTSD should be 25-35, and your W$SD should be around 50-60%. If you see a player with a WTSD higher than 40 you value bet. If he has around 20 WTSD you can try to bluff him if he didn't show strength before, becouse players with low WTSD generally have high W$SD percentage, so be careful.

Real! You need to know something about your opponent. HUD can help you.
If you do not know any info, you must be easy and dont call every (you think strong) hands.
Try think like him...
And think about one more thing: can he check-call your bets with MONSTER COMBINATION what he already had on flop-turn ????

See what kind of hand strength plays poorly vs a river bet (most likely anything less than TPTK) and stop calling those altogether.

What sample size are you talking about first?

Leak Buster says 1.2 - 1.7 for river call efficiency is ideal. What are you at right now?

Just try to figure out what possible range he could have . I usually check top pair on turn to call river bet most likely bluff catcher . Play smaller pots if you not available make correct decisions. Try study your own leaks you do the most.

Pretty general question not a lot of data to answer so I will be general. What's he on? Hopefully you have some idea of his range from previous hands look at the board texture and what he did on every street to try and narrow his hand range then once you have that range make a decision.

It is precisely the river that has the best reading of the game if the game is the best call and not fold

I just read some text that players should call river more often.

..but my question is why?

Maybe I waited for a straight draw, flush draw or some other good card. It didn't come on a river and why should I call some bet.. even if it's small? What is my chance for win with air or some low pair? (ofc, it depends on situation, but usually low chances)

Also if I have medium or high pair, but we got highest card on a river (for example I have JJ (highest pair until river) and river is Ace... that is the situation where I could have problems. Also, could be a winner here, but that risky situation to call medium or high bet on river :)

The river is an important and difficult street

The river is an important and difficult street, because it is on the final round of trade that we make the most expensive actions in the distribution. By collecting a nuts combination, you should extract the maximum value from your hand. To do this, it is necessary to raise the opponent's bet, leaving him space for a call. Weak players are pretty straightforward: they put a little with a weak hand, and a lot with a strong hand. More experienced opponents can manage the size of their raise depending on our call spectrum. The main thing to remember is an important nuance: an opponent's check can be a provocation. Your position at the table plays a very important role in making a decision on the river.
