How does everyone like to raise pre-flop in ring games?

I tend to raise based on position. Say early position with with AA i am always raising 5x. Even 88 i will raise 5x in early. Lets say i have one of those hands in middle, I would raise 4x with both. In Late position I will raise 3x. The only hands i limp are low suited connectors in late position or small pockets in early at loose table.

I know there is no right way but i believe this makes me unreadble to wether it is AA or 88. Any comments welcome.

As long as you are consistant I guess that is ok. But wouldn't position dictate you do it the other way around? 3x 4x 5x, That way you can play your cards and also play position.

i want to try and narrow the feild size down. That way the drawing hands do not have implied odds. I play anywhere from 5nl to 25nl depending on how i am feeling. players at these levels will call with about any two cards so I like to charge their draws.

oO as long as you consistant everything is ok. NO MAN. you need to change your style from time to time because consistancy means your hands start to become readable.

I cant tell if you have AA or 72 but if you raises 5x BB with 72 and miss flop i woul most likely take all of your chips.

i would play the people at the table as opposed to the position.. See what your trying to accomplish.. Does one player limp or call 2x or 3x and try and hit.. Then you need to raise to get rid of him.. One player pushing hard trying to steal. You may want to just call and set a trap..

Yep this is fine. Generally you want to raise bigger from EP because you've got more high-pair and AK (which will most likely be a 1-pair hand) which have a problem with reverse implied odds. So basically you want to charge them as much money as you can while also making it small enough that people will make the mistake of calling without odds.

Raising the same amount everytime, even in different position, will telegraph your hand to people that play with you often. you have to mix it up constantly to keep your opponent on edge. Raising in early position will indicate strength, try doing it with weak hands occasionally.

This is false, sorry. How does doing the same thing with a wide variety of hands telegraph your hand? Just doesn't make any sense.

i always raise 3x no matter my position. most times if im pllaying i dont mind a caller. whats the point in raising it so much u only get the blinds. sounds like a waste of time. if u do get more callers than u may have wanted play cautiously after the flop.the only time my raise changes is if there are other limpers. then i add 1 bb for each player that limped.i never vary from that. whether its AA or 24o.

At the levels that are being mentioned, not a whole lot of players are paying attention to the other players and only really care what's in their hands.
