It doesn't seem to me that most legitimate poker places would do a flat fee for an hour and not take a rake. I might be suspect of some place that did it, just because it was not the norm. If it was a real thing, of course you would play higher limits. But I would expect places that offer this type of deal would not have higher limits. This of course gets into the "more rake is better" discussion. I am looking for a low rake myself, but I suppose that should be amended to be "I am looking for a rake that is not unreasonable".

I recently read that they do this in Texas to get around the law. They are charging you to rent the seat and not based on the poker being played so they are not profiting from the gambling. A loophole for sure and not sure how long they’ll get away with it.
