Just A Few Thoughts

Has anybody here ever played a really horrible Stud variant called "Pineapple"?

I've played both Pineapple and Crazy Pineapple, but they aren't really 7stud variant per se. They are actually a flop game kin to hold'em since they use a five card common board. It's sort of like "Hold'em Plus". :)

Also, to keep this in its own topic just in case it takes off, I'm moving a copy of your last post and my reply to another thread.

It's not a Stud game it's a Hold'em varient, between Texas and Omaha. And it isn't horrible, it actually is very interesting, Some friends and I used to play Limit Crazy Pineapple H/L.

im not sure but i believe that ultimate bet offers pineapple

Nope and I checked around - thought PS or Carbon might. I seem to recall seeing the game offered somewhere, but that was over a year ago - maybe it was UB. Too bad, sounds like fun.

I deal pineapple quite often in live home games Dealer's Choice. Usually makes for a more interesting game and larger pots than shorthanded hold em especially when you're playing with people you know quite well and play against often.

Smart move. The game is surprisingly complicated, despite being only one extra card. Pineapple is the crack cocaine of poker.

Looks like they still do:
http://www.ultimatebet.net/how-to-play-online-poker/rules/pineapple

They aren't 'U.S.-Friendly,' but I think Paradise does too.

They might explain the rules because they USED to offer it, and never took it off their websire page. But if you can find the game in the lobby, though, please point it out. Anyway UB IS US friendly.

^^^ definitely!! What I've always called it is Holdem on Steroids.

Every few months our local casino does a Thursday nite Crazy Pineapple as their variety game of the month. Turnouts are fairly small and it's mainly for the laughs involved and the hands that hit. Really hard for me to take either version seriously.

Ya i played crazy pineapple before, when Paradise Poker used too accept US players. I thought it was a alright game, very similar too holdem, with the exception of another card you get in you hole cards. Played it for money for a little bit, but once i started loosing a lot of cash, i stopped playing it. Haven't seen a site offer it since paradise

My bad. I don't use UB, and wasn't aware they no longer spread the game--I just saw the page on their website, and thought it was there for a reason.

I have an account at Paradise, since I have a second residence outside the US. That is who I was referring to, when I said 'they are not US friendly.' I realize that the way I said it could be confusing. That said, I just updated my software, and they no longer spread the game either.

Can someone explain how the game works

How does it differ from regular NO limit texas hold'em? I am curious about it. Just need a qucik synopsis on the basic gameplay. Sounds like a fun game to play.

Look at that, it's got its own website. This should be a good start... http://www.pineapple-poker.com/rules/crazy-pineapple-poker-rules.html

If you look in the poker rooms tab, it hasn't been updated in a long time. I don't think ANY of those sites offer it.

Another article on pineapple... http://www.pokernews.com/news/2006/12/other-games-poker-pineapple.htm

Pineapple and variants

Believe this was answered earlier in the thread but here goes:

It's dealt like regular PL HEM, but you get THREE hole cards instead of two.

In "regular" Pineapple, you have to discard one of the hole cards following the pre-flop round of betting and then "regular" play commences.

In Crazy Pineapple, the discard comes AFTER the flop.

Crazy Pineapple H/L8, the pot can end up in a Hi/Lo split.

For more info, try Wikipedia or the following link: http://www.pokernews.com/news/2006/12/other-games-poker-pineapple.htm

And, although UBNet did used to offer it, they no longer do so. Can't speak to any non-US friendly sites. Used to run into it in Montana poker rooms, when the "button" got to call dealer's choice. Haven't played there for years, so don't know if that is still the practice.

Thank you guys

for all the links and advice. It sounds like an interesting game. I think I will stick to my favorite game of No Limit Texas Hold'em. Pineapple sounds much more suited for a home games with your buddies. Thanks again.

Id like to see more pokerrooms offer more options like this. Its a nice distraction when in the mood for something different.

Never played it, but it sounds fun. I read something briefly on it. Would love to try it out at some point.
