Ok guys normally i buy in for 300 at the 1/3 live at the nearest casino.. but because of some financial trouble im only bringing a 120 buy in.. this is still 40 BB but since i know the normal raises are like 15-20 i feel like the first flop i want to see im going to be pot committed... How should i play? I always play tight aggressive but what about bet sizes and how not to get pot committed on my first flop or should i maybe just play the 4-8 limit game? Also.. how would i play limit differently then no limit.. Ive never played limit before..

You need a bigger buy in to play good poker otherwise you're making quite a gamble with only 40 BBs.

Should i just play the limit game then? Im sure 120 is enough for decent 4-8.. But im not sure how to play limit good..

I'd stick to limit with that roll, especially on a loose pre-holiday weekend. Play top 6% and get it when you can.

Still seems like a big gamble with only 40 BB. If it's for entertainment go for it, but if you are working on a roll you need to wait.

If you go the limit route just remember you will almost always need the best hand to win, everyone will stick to the river and most will have the right price to do so. Nothing fancy, bluffs are wasted at that level. I feel like playing tighter is even more important at limit but there are those that disagree with me.

In any case GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!!!!!

Not too sure I don't play limit but I would say its better to play limit with that buy in than no limit.

It's just impossible to explain in a nutshell how to play the limit, it would be all that easy in poker, I'd already earned a thousand of dollars.

It's not worth playing the NL game if you don't even have half a BI. I definitely say that if you must go, play the 4/8 game or find a tourney you can afford. Honestly, $120 isn't even that much for a 4/8 game. I usually do pretty good, but I went on a bad streak one night and lost $200 in less then 2 hours on a 3/6 game. That produced some major tilt, because it didn't matter what I had, nothing was going to win. Good hands didn't hold up, even crap hands I didn't play wouldn't have gotten lucky. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Don't play limit!

If you don't have experience in limit don't play with a limited bank roll. $120 is less at a 4-8L than at a 1-3NL. You will not be able to isolate at a 4-8 and you can easily drop 1/4 stack chasing even if you getting proper odds. Limit has huge variance per buy-in. Best idea is to play NL and try to isolate on big hands or get in cheap on multi-way pots.

don't play

This

You're better off saving the money for some other form of entertainment or else waiting until you have something that will give you a better chance than a craps shoot.

My initial answer knowing what you know about the game is that you should not buy in at all..And my second thought is find a 1/2 game or get a bigger bankroll.

I'd take the $120 and get into some tourney action.

honestly think he has a better chance short stacking cash, variance is silly in mtts

plus live mtts tend to have really fast structures

Financial trouble? oh dear, maybe you got bigger issues than not being able to buy in full no?

I think that a good poker player dont wast all the bank roll in one day many good poker players with many skeals and talent cant pass some levels and lose money cause they simple dont have any bank roll skill. What i sugest is play lo levels take your time, Rome as not bild in one day our in one year take time, take your time be patiant one day you ill play hi stakes.

Don't play. If you must buy in for $120. Yes, you are playing with 40bb. It's not always a fold/shove situation. You can take 1/5 of your stake with AK, AQ, KK, QQ. Those hands you want to see the flop against 1 or 2 players. But if you play tight, you can do an all-in squeeze play and pick up small pots in late position. If you do get called holding a decent pair like 8's or 9's, go ALL-IN. If you get get 3 callers. Well, you're getting 3:1 on your money for the main pot. Most hand ranges that will call your are either a bigger pair(which you're a big underdog at 4:1), or AK, AQ, AJ, KQ, A10

In that situation, when 2 or more players have an any two cards from A to 10, you're pretty sure you won't lose to a straight. They have each other's outs, for ****'s sake. Unless the case Aces pops up, you're middle pair will stand up more of often than not.

Lets say you do triple up with 9's by going all-in. Count your chips, tip the dealer, and stand up. You need to quit while you're ahead.

Never play under-rolled. Its like playing with borrowed money, your game is off and its anything but enjoyable. If your jonesin for a game play a $40-$100 tournament. Youll enjoy yourself more and be able to get your game on.

Never hit the NL Tables with less than a full bi*4 in your pocket (br@home), personal rule

by what I see is not if you know the subject of betting, the bet size according to the size of the pot and then the position is important when betting, there are many pages to learn and read about poker and gambling before and after the flop ..
