I have played mostly online but recently started going to the riverboat. I have been trying to figure pot odd and use them in my play, but find it difficult to keep track of how much is in the pot. Can the dealer tell the table what is in the pot? I play in 1-2 games and some of the pots have been quite large... $400 - 500 dollars.
While I have you here are there any rules about reading text messges or listening to head phones while playing?
Thanks

When I am counting the pot live, I do quick math: I raised to 7, 2 callers + 3 in blinds = 24 in the pot on the flop. On the turn and river I do basically the same: flop was 24 I bet 20, 1 caller = 64 in the pot on the turn.

For pot odds, memorize the common odds for hands. You can find these easily.

Use estimate of lower of your stack and opponents stack to get your implied odds.
