I mean, I can understand if you raise PF and some donkey calls and then like 3 K's come on the flop...and you would think your opponent would have A-K if he pushes...

But have you EVER thrown away A-A in any situation?

Interesting question indeed...;)

There should be NO reason WHATSOEVER to fold PREflop. It's THE STRONGEST preflop hand. Post-flop, though....Yeah I think I might have done it a few times.

No reason whatsoever? Ever played a MTT at Full Tilt Poker?

Mucked them more times than I care to count! When it's hand #1 (or 2 or 3 or 7) and half the table has gone all in in front of you (with bricks)...you know one of those nutz is gonna hit a str8 or flush or something ridiculous - I'm there to play the tourney, not just the hand. And yes, it sux big time.

:stupid:
You should NEVER fold AA pre-flop unless it is a satellite tournament..
Also, you should be able to fold AA postflop many times if you don't hit and there is a scary board.

When there are more than 3 callers going all in a mtt folding pocket aces is a good idea.

If I had AA and the flop came 3Ks, I would most likely not fold... In fact, I'd say that would be one of the safest flops to bet AA on: no straight or flush draws, and what's the chance that he has the case K in the deck and just hit four of a kind? Pretty small. Most likely he has AJ, AQ, maybe even A10 or a suited connector. After all, if he IS a donkey, he'll probably call with a wide variety of cards, I'd make some value bets to lure him along and get the most out of him as I could.

I don't think I ever have preflop, but postflop is a different story entirely.

OK, to those of you who said you would NEVER fold AA pre-flop, let me propose this situation (not at all uncommon) and see if you would change your answer:

You are in a satellite to the wsop main event. There are 10 people left and the top 9 each get a $10,000.00 seat. You are currently 4th in chips, the blinds are 2000/4000 with an ante of 500. The two short stacks in the tournament have around 10000 chips each and you have 130,000. You pick up AA in the big blind. The huge chip leader on the button pushes.

Do you call and risk it or fold and most certainly take your $10,000.00 seat in the next 5 or 6 hands?

On a smaller scale a similar situation developed for me today. I am playing in one of those 45 manners on full tilt where the top six cash.

I am second in chips with 9k and there are seven of us left. Chipleader has round 18k.

I'm in the big blind and bam AA, action goes around chipleader raises to 2k. comes back to me I re raise to 3k.... he re raises all in. So i figure I'm looking at qq or kk. now i can still fold here and have an easy walk into the money but hell no i call.

He flips over QQ

the flop is Q 2 7 and artax78 has finished seventh in this tournament.

I have been involved in a lot of situations like this and I think depending on what the stakes are and the given situation at the time u may have to fold pre flop.

It was a raised pot with 2 callers and i was thinking that my pocket fours has no chance .Here is the lesson DO NOT DRINK while playing poker..
