I been playing poker at pokerstars and fulltilt for 2 years and a i deposit a few times, but i always go back to nothing, i think 20 dollars is not enough bankroll, so i really want to know, how much money you think is a good number to have a small but useful bankroll? i just want to play low limits but without going back to nothing every time, sorry if my english is not the best... i'm from argentina, thanks for your time!

I believe you want at least 50 buy ins for whatever limit you play in, some may say 100. So for .01/.02 you should have 100 dollars. Less can and will work, but 20 bucks is way to low.

Sounds a bit overly cautious with 50-100 x buyin, but I guess whatever makes you comfortable.

Most will recommend 25-30 buyins, but do agree that USD 20 is too low regardless of limit.

I run 20 buyins below EV in 5NL... so no 20 buyins is not even remotely enough for any level. I find it amazing so many people think it is.

Yeah but it also depends on how good the player is. Not saying you are bad, but for a player who can crush the limit then BR requirements don't have to be cushion-y. You may be 20 Bi below EV but you are still winning aren't you? I was 30BI below EV at one point and still beating 5NL for 5BB/100 over 30K hands.

@OP it really comes down to how good you are and what you are comfortable with. That being said I do believe there should be a minimum no matter how capable a player you are. I would say 20 BI is the minimum anyone should have for the current limit they are playing at.

20BI is plenty for 2nl...

But when you start getting serious at 25 nl I'd probably be more comfy with 30+

If you are a decent player, you don't need more than 15 Buy-ins for 2 NL, which means deposit $30 and start grinding.

$20.00 should be enough at any of the penny any tables, but my advice is six player Max stay away from nine player tables.

I think for 2nl 20 BI is fine but when trying to move up you need that cushion some thing like 20-40 BI.

I would reccommend investing 150 dollers and having a crack at 10NL

20 dollers is an ok amount if you wanna take a risk play some 3.50 you deposit 22 and you got 6 buy ins, play 6 and see how you stand....

there is no harm in taking a risk in 10NL with 20 dollers if you can win a few sessions you could have yourelf 15-20 buy ins and 10NL
but in reality only a very good player running well would pull that off .
It's been done,
and I've 2 tabled maybe 10 sessions without a loss a few times before now, 4 or more would be tough.

I think starting the lowest level with 20 buyins is pretty safe... I usually play 4 tables and when i usually wait till i have 20 buy ins of the next level and take shots with 2 outta the 4 tables once i get to 25 buyins ill fully switch all 4 to the next level
