Last month I played my first live cash game ever, at Harrah's Cherokee. I had been at the table for about 30 minutes when a man sat down to my left, he had a cast on his right arm. The dealer started dealing the cards and when he got to my 2nd card it hit the guy's cast, flipped up in the air and landed, face down, in front of me. I looked at my 2 cards, I had A 10 of spades.

The dealer quickly slammed his hand on the table and said:

Dealer: You can't look at those.
Me: Why not?
Dealer: Everyone saw that card, it was the Q of spades.
Me: No, it wasn't.
Dealer: Yes it was, we all saw it. It's a misdeal.

Me: OK, but it wasn't the queen of spades.
Dealer: MA'AM, we ALL saw it, it was the queen of spades!
Me: I do not have the queen of spades in my hand.

I slid my cards over to him and he flipped them over to reveal the A and 10 of spades. Then a man at the other end of the table, without saying a word, flipped over his 2 cards, one was the Q of spades. The dealer said nothing, just collected all the cards and redealt the hand. I played a few more hands and then left the table.

What would you have done in this situation? As I was leaving the table a man to my right said I should have called the floor over.

Hello Trixxxter,

I suppose I would have called the floor over before the hand was dead if I had a premium hand. If the dealer did get the suit right though, it is possible that someone else did get a good look. Also, if a spade draw came on the flop, I think the previous discussion might influence people at the table. It sounds like the annoying thing was the dealer's insistence that they were right. In that case, if you wanted to complain, it would have been best to call the floor over while you had the evidence. I have had it happen and the dealer was extremely apologetic and I am an easy-going guy. I didn't raise a fuss, but I had a trash hand.

Good luck to you,
Brian

In controversial situations - call the manager, only he can judge you with the dealer

Even though the dealer should have dealt with it differently, I would have let it go. Once there was a back and forth, your hand has been compromised, and it is best to move on. Sometimes it takes the floor a couple minutes to get to the table and several minutes to hear different sides of the story and make the ruling that it is a redeal anyway.

First, this would have resulted in a redeal anyway. The second you told the dealer you did not have that card they would have called for a misdeal based on that. However, calling the floor manager over would at least get attention on the fact that this is a crappy dealer. So, I'd play out the rest of the hour WITHOUT tipping for once and then let the new dealer get you back in the game.

It's better to ask a manager, and don't try to dispute with dealer.
Dealers are working a lot, and they can make a mistake, cause this is alive persons.
So you should to find somebody to decide your problem):fight:

Like others here have stated, yes I absolutely would of call the floor over if I was dealt a pair or a strong suited hand.

what does calling the floor over? like in these situations its weather or not to continue with the dealt hands?
i kinda think that it was something fishy going on in the first place, like theres no any queen of spades in the picture and hes like thats queen of spades, cmon. wouldnt be surprised hes maybe cheating buddies with that dude or someone? by the way i would have left too and ive never played live cash, just tourneys :)

Sounds like a bad dealer if he is flinging cards that hit the person beside you in the arm.
