Most of the time I join cash games and there is at least one loose player.

My question is; What should I do when this happens? When joining a cash game lately I have been getting a lot of crappie hands and when I get a decent one I almost never hit. Sometimes I stick around and sometimes I join another table but it stays the same.
I normally start with the minimum and work my up but lately I have just been giving away money from the blinds and calling bets with no luck on anything.
My main concern is throwing money away just sitting and waiting without a chance to make it back. Any advice is appreciated.

Joining and leaving tables is not going to help you catch a hand. All it is doing is making you lose your read on the table and the players and starting from scratch. The days of sitting around waiting to catch a hand and win a big pot are over and if that is your strategy you are going to get crushed.

No sir, that's not my strategy. maybe once in a while I'll try to get that big pot but I can't even play a strategy with way things have been going lol. I get a great read on everyone at the tables but I never catch the cards to do anything with.

It sure sounds like that is your strategy. Stop buying in short.

If there is a big pot, someone is getting a bad beat.

When joining a cash game lately I have been getting a lot of crappie hands and when I get a decent one I almost never hit. Sometimes I stick around and sometimes I join another table but it stays the same.

In such situations you should try and attempt to play a hand aggressive once in a while. Try and 3bet pre flop in position and try to outplay your opponent post flop. Most of the time this will be easy because of your table image. Take advantage of this image of yours.
Just plain waiting for premium hands is a bad idea in my mind because when you get em the players don't give you much value for the hand because they know you have a monster.

My main concern is throwing money away just sitting and waiting without a chance to make it back. Any advice is appreciated.

And it is not fun being in that situation either so do something about it next time and good luck. :icon_joke

Like my straight flush being beat by quads lol
Oh yeah? Your straight flush was beaten by quads? :dontknow:

That truly is a bad beat. The first piece of advice I can give you is to look at this:

Poker ranking

I would say it is time to take step back. Try going to a lower limit table or maybe just take a break from poker for a while. If you put yourself on tilt it will not get better.

Something that will definitely help is buying in for the max. This will do two things it will give you more play behind your stack so you can put people in their place if they are opening every hand. It also will make it so when you hit a huge hand and get action you will be winning 100BB instead of 25bb or 50bb. This will make a huge difference in your win rate, as big hands are hard to come by. Then getting action with them is a different story. Everyone hates it when you flop the nuts and everyone folds and you win 3bb. :banghead: Being deaper stacked though gives you the opportunity to win more as well as not let people push you around.

Just gotta start with the basics, my friend. Hand rankings are always helpful to know. I dunno if I'd call it "necessary" per se, but it's definitely good knowledge to have if you REALLY wanna be the best.

I went full retarded on that. It was the other way around :(

@kuphaldt I'll definitely try buying in with the max. Thanks for the advice.

Why are loose players a problem? Most of them are bad at the micros.

Buy in for max, for reasons others have stated.

Stop complaining about getting crappie hands. You receive cards at random so what's the point in talking about it.

Is it really necessary to bash me? I'm asking for advice not complaining.

Im not bashing, im just being blunt.

Best way to get help from people is to post hand histories. You might be making basic fundamental errors which can easily be spotted, and if fixed, will improve your WR hugely.

lol i play on carbon and pretty much all of my wins are sitting around waiting for big hands.

It may happen once every 200 hands, but that should be more than enough to be a winning player on carbon. getting better just means winning more in between those hands and losing less.

The only time you should be leaving tables if their are no loose players or spots at the table.

Oh come on...that's just not going to work long term is it. Not to mention how boring that would be, it wouldn't work anyway.
