Can somebody enlighten me as to why so many people online have a love affair with Q 10 offsuit? I mean, honestly, this seems to be one hand that many people cannot resist raising and re raising with. Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining because these donks practically give their money away this way, but has anybody else noticed this trend with Q 10 off?

Yeah you see that a lot. And I don't mind that either! Same for JT, also overplayed a lot..
Personally I almost never raise with it and only limp in when the pot odds are good.

JTs = the donk nuts
KJo = donk kings

To poor players, pretty much any two cards 10+ are worth a call, regardless of position, bet size, or other factors.

heh, I can remember when I would never fold preflop thinking "we get to see 3 cards, the odds of one of these hitting is pretty good, and the other people might miss". Of course this was when I was just playing with my family with play chips, but if I hadn't had friends who were decent and helped me learn, I'd be learning partly by playing for real money, and I can still remember, even after we started playing for real money, when I overplayed K9o, got lucky, and I argued with my friends that K9 was a great hand because it had 2 high cards in it lol.

yeah, i see a lot of raising w/ 10Q off and especially JQ... i really don't understand it when the raise is in early position because any ace, king, or pair has you beat preflop, but the donkeys always get lucky vs. me it seems. when i get 10q early position i usually limp or fold depending on the blinds, but there's no way i raise with that unless im heads up or only against the blinds.

Heads up is a different beast though - QT is a much better hand when there's only two of you in the game.

It's not the actual cards. It's the mentality behind playing them.

Lot's of players online are very IMPATIENT. They sit there for 30 minutes getting nothing but rags, 64os, 72os, J3os, T4os...and believe me, they are getting frustrated.

By the time a hand like QT comes around, it looks like AA to these people. After seeing so much junk, they don't realise that even this is junk (unless the flop puts down a monster).

It all comes down to patience.

JTs is a great hand to see a flop with, you have lots of outs - but if you don't hit the flop with either:

Flush draw
Straight draw
Top pair/Overcard kicker
2 pair
Trips

You HAVE to fold. You have NOTHING.

Some players do this with AK, they don't hit the flop - but play it to the river like they just hit quads.

I seldom if ever open EP with QT, and if I were to do such a thing it would be a healthy raise semi-bluff, I too will limp from later positions with QT much of the time. It is usually a one shot thing. If I hit either I might stick around for a turn, or I might get aggressive on a T-lo-lo flop.

CO, or Button, it's often worth the steal.

Thing with any splitters is that they must be played carefully, and it generally has to be a 1 shot looksee. It is also extremely table/read dependent. If the table is limping, these ain't bad limpers.

Thats the only time i would play Q10off and thats not often, whereas Q10 suited im always a little more inclined to play if no one has rasied before me, i may even try a steal in mid pos with Q10s
