So i picked up a few dollars from freerolls to practice playing some microstake cash games at 2nl. Obviously I was not using the proper bank roll management that I need to play these cash games profitably but I felt like i was just bleeding money with the few dollars I had. What is the proper range of hands to play at these stakes as a default?

Always think about you position. In one position you could play a wide range of hands but that don't mean you can play any hands because that's just asking to get beat. Learn how to fold a lot of hands and that will help you more than you may think. You would not believe the cards I fold/ And I don't get bored and call with any cards just to try to make something happen, I've been there and I've done that but it never has worked for me. To get back to where I started./ I said you can play a wide range of cards, in some positions. But the one's you play should be cards that can win the pot if you hit the flop/ Now in other positions, like UTG you should be folding many hands and you should be playing real tight and real aggresive if you hit the flop. But don't take what I say as the gosple. Nothing works all the time. Ok one more thing and I will shut up. You say you are playing at 2nl right now/ I started there and moved up to 5nl and then 10nl and thats where I'm at. now and I probably will be there a while. If you want to move up the same way you will have to play like you are playing for a big pay day. Think of those pennys like they are dollars. I may seen stupid to you, but that's just what I did and it helped me a lot. I'm done now

The first thing you need to do is keep picking up a few dollars in free rolls. Next play tight with the few bucks you have until you can grow your roll. In a situation where it is raised and reraised and you have AK just fold for now. In many cases you can jam there but not with a tiny bankroll. Play position and avoid going for small flushes and long shot straights. So for your range it will be crazy tight and played mostly from position. This boring and exploitable but at 2nl most players will not notice. If they do and are folding a lot to your open raises then loosen up a bit if you are winning. For now you are in "folding is bliss" mode. Imagine all of the money you are saving by not getting stacked with 56 suited when you hit a flush and are beat by a better flush..Do not allow the hands you would have won to bother you. Think of the disasters you avoided. 2nl plays all over the place and has all kinds of skill level players. Mostly bad players but a few guys that can play well and for whatever reason are at 2nl for now. The tables will be different every time. Some guys will just open shove AA and others will do this with any 2 cards. Get to know who is who and adjust your range each hand. Having a set range is not helpful. Avoid bad aces as you will face bigger aces often or face "ace hunter" hands. Play only flush hands that are very strong. avoid drawing to low flushes and forget gut shots for now unless they are part of a semi bluff. You need to be the rock at the table for now..only a few players will notice or care. Good luck.

I would start from here and adjust based on conditions:

EP AK, 22+, Any suited Broadway
MP add suited connectors, and suited Aces (only if limped, or if you open).
LP Add any Broadway (only if you are the opener)

I would play tighter since you can't take much variance. Focus on aq+ 77+ kqs. Try to leave a table if you win a little so you're risking less of your bankroll. Once it gets sizeable you can loosen up
