Hi and welcome :). Like many things in poker, the amount you should be raising will vary as we should be taking a lot more into consideration. Our position is very important but so is our opponents and their playing styles. How many hands have you played at 2nl?

depends on positin, hand....
but ussualy its 2 ways
1. raises 2.5-3bb with good hands and ~4.5-5.5 with monsters like QQ
2. has the standart 3bb/pot/shove slider so it's adjusted accordingly

At .02/.05 I change my raises sizes anywhere from 2x to 5x just to keep my opponents off balance, especially if I'm playing 6 max. I see a lot of players telegraph premium hands with 5x-6x size raises so I do the same against these players with just about any hand to throw them off and then I may turn around and raise 2x with Aces or Kings. I really like to mix it up to keep them confused.

it don't really matter... Just whatever you feel comfortable with.

People like 2.5 for post flop flexibility.

Others use 4x to charge those setminers and lags to catchup.

Depends on my opponents, but if I have no info I go for a typical 2.5-3x. If I have a big hand and I'm against a spewy player I'll make it bigger

At 5nl zoom on Bovada, I typically see 2.5-3.5x. I personally always go with 3x from all positions because I find that 2.5 gets too many callers, and 3.5x will often get too many folds. I guess since it's Zoom I could try varying it based on my hand strength, but I haven't tried that yet.

Don't think there'd be a helluvalot of difference between 2NL and 5NL.

What seems to be the "game standard" raise? I'd usually go with that. For on-line, that frequently means something like 3XBB. 2XBB from the BTN when on steals. That way, you keep your c-bets cheaper. Try not to vary too much, and especially not according to hand strength. You'll clue in your mire astute opponents (not like there are very many at these stakes, but you'll occasionally run into one).

You can raise it more to punish limpers, usually 1BB for every limper, and another 1BB on top if playing OOP.

if you have a good hand the normal raise is 3bb, looking some videos may help you to perfectionate your game.

preflop I go for 2.5x + BB * extra limpers. Say, if the blinds are 1c/2c, and I'm on the button. Two other players have limped in. I would raise 5c + 2c * 2 (for the limpers), which makes it 9c total as my preflop raise.

And I think it's best if you keep your preflop raise at a standard size, regardless if you're bluffing or have a monster. Once in a while, though, you should mix it up a bit and throw in some inexplicable 5x or something - just to throw your opponents off their guessing game a bit.

Good luck!

i like to look at the villans and tailor the raise size to them, ie if you have a villan who calls or defends every time just increase your bet size for value- observant opponents should catch on but if somebody is playing 50% of hands they probably wont adjust correctly

The initial raise you choose varies and depends on position , the players you have in front of you on the table and other factors .
If many tend to limp in your good hands raise more bb .
If they are passive , don't change style , keep pressing them .
3x is the standard ,change it to 3,5x or 2,5x sometimes .
When you have a good hand raise more to protect it , sometimes raise more with not a monster to mix your game .
Try to control the pot and the action with the right raises at the right spots the right time.

I wonder if EV could be applied here. Taking the chance of winning with a starter hand, then determining the most profitable pot increase. This could be done with hand calculators.

I prefer to raise or 2,5 bb's 3bb's, 3bet 2,8-2.9x , because I believe that a big raise might scare off weaker players with weak cards :)

It depends, but in a general way, 2.5x-3x . When carrying strong hands and players limp, I use to add an extra for each limp.
