Hey ....new to the forums here and have'nt been playing for very long, playing $.25-$.50 limit tables trying to build my bankroll....started with $100 got up to $210 and am back down to $160 after a really bad run of cards, don't think i was playing that badly. I understand that playing at these limits these there is not much use for bluffing as mostplayers call to the river with nearly anything...but my question is about pre flop folding. I'm folding in between 65 - 70% of my hands currently(9 or 10 handed ring games)...am i still playing too many hands? should it be closer to 75-80%? what are ur ideas or advice on being more prifitable at these low limits?? thanks!

I normally play about 17-20% in a full limit ring game.

Play the big hands aggressive from up late and if your drawing make sure you have the correct odds, which is somewhat easier in limit as you know what your opponents bets can be.

The best thing you can do to increase your profit is probably to pick up a book. "Winning Low Limit Hold 'em" by Lee Jones and "Small Stakes Hold 'em" by Ed Miller come highly recommended - but I haven't read either of them myself (yet), so can't give you direct input.

That's probably the best bang for your buck. If you're somewhat of a beginner, you'll learn so much that after having read it, you may end up wondering how you could ever win before.

I know I've had that epiphany several times, heh.

Specifically, however, Dook is about right. You want to play ~20% of the starting hands, but it's difficult to give hard numbers, since the hands you play depend on the table you're at, what the action has been to you, your position, etc.

But, seriously, invest $30 in a book. You'll never regret it.

Good luck!

I am playing 18.05% of hands at full ring limit games. I would suggest you tighten up your starting hands. That been said I have had srssions where I have seen 12% of flops and sessions where I have seen 30% flops. You might also want to pay attention to the position you are playing hands from, a hand that is an easy fold UTG could also be a raising hand first in, on the button.

Have a good look at some of the threads and articles here at CC and I'm sure you will find some extremely useful stuff.

I can also recommend "Winning at low limit holdem". FP is spot on there.

Rocka.
