What do people think of posting blinds from any seat or waiting for big blind?

I usually just post because it's just 1 big blind. I would only wait for big blind if I'm only 1 or at most, 2 hands away from being big blind. But if the button is on a player left of me, I will just post.

Sometimes, I think this can be a useful way to see the tell of players. If someone waits for bb when they're next to button and will be willing to wait over 3-4 hands for big blind, I will assume that player is a tight player. If player posts, such as myself, then I will kinda feel that they're loose players. Some regs who multi-table would just wait for bb because they're playing many tables and they can afford to wait since they can play other tables. So I wouldn't necessarily assume that anyone who waits for bb are tight players. But I know they're not multi-tabling and wait for bb, then I would tend to think they can likely be a tight player.

I just post unless I only have to wait like one or two hands until I'm in the BB position. I play live, so I'll usually just stay standing while waiting and stretch my legs a bit.

Full ring ill post from button or co live, but that's mainly an impatience factor + fun EV

I think you should always wait for the BB. Even if you are on the button, you'll be getting two random cards, and it is difficult to play well with two random cards. Instead, you can wait and use the next few hands to develop reads on your opponents.

Posting bb out of order is a great way to advertise yourself as a fish and attract attention of all the regs. I suppose it is fun to be in the centre of attention.

Posting BB out of order is usually wrong, unless there is a real maniac at the table and you want to jump on the bandwagon as soon as possible.

Mathematically, posting on the button or the cut off is as good or better than waiting for your big blind in a full ring game IF the blinds are even numbers. When you post in the big blind in a 1/2 game with 9 players you pay 3 to see 9 hands, or 1 for each three hands. If you post in the cut off, you pay 2 to see 6 hands, which is also 1 for each three hands, and you have better position with your hand. On the rare opportunity to post on the button you get a slightly better price because you pay 2 for seven hands and you have the best possible position. If the blinds are odd numbers you do not get as good a price, but you do still get the advantage of position.

"It's just 1 big blind"

That 1 big blind adds up fast. Believe that

you should think it, on a long term picture. It is ev- coz u playing an hand at blind when it is not required.
On the long term you will post loads of blinds without see your cards. So think how many bbs you "waste" when multitabling, xday

On a random game I think should be fine posting it; you avoid waiting the orbit to start to play (live or random online match).

In a 6 max game i sit out until it's my blind. Over a period of time if you post you will lose more than you win so that would be -EV. Poker is based on you making the right decision over a long period of time.

Supposedly, in full ring, posting from the cutoff (or button if allowed) is optimal, other positions less so.
