According to the HEM article Plugging the Leaks - The Basics

Positional Awareness Median bb/100
< 1.77 -0.62
1.77 to 2.18 2.55
2.18 to 2.57 3.48
2.57 to 3.14 3.36
3.14+ 2.19

Based on approx. 5k hands I'm running 4.11 as a positional awareness stat. Anyone have thoughts on why having too high a number here would decrease your potential earnings? My thought is that I'm much less likely to play junk from an early position and it should increase earnings.

You're passing up hands that have enough value to play from any position in early position, and you're playing hands that have little value late, just because of your position. Hands like AQ, 77 are still great hands, and folding them even from UTG ain't so great.

Yeah I agree, I think this system keeps you from playing too many good hands. Surely with pocket 7s even pocket Js, if someone goes all in in a bad position fold, but still, you can play better hands.
