Pokerstars Micros?

I've left Sky and decided to play on Stars. One thing i'm noticing is that NL10 is much MUCH easier to beat than NL5.

Is this a case of there being lots of micro grinders who are constantly reading strategy or what? The general play at NL5 is either they're 3betting massive because they have you crushed or are folding, or at the very most seeing and then folding to most flops. Like trying to get blood out of a stone. The value bet, value bet, value bet ABC line just isn't working, and it's difficult to know what to do to combat it without seeing many coolers etc. 10k hands in and i'm just bored to be honest.

Anyone else have the same experience?

I have to agree, 5nl is nittier than 10nl is at pokerstars.

People say they are imagining it, but I believe it to be true.

It's most definetly beatable though, once you learn to beat the nits and just pound on them each street.

I belive the reason for the nits at 5nl is because, the minimim deposit on stars is $10.00. Therefore, your recreational "fish" will highly likely go straight to 10nl, as opposed to think "Oh, I have 2 buy-ins for 5nl" They wont think on this level and will just go play at 10nl.

I find there are a TON of grinders at 5nl, who have likely read forums, followed stratergy etc and have literally grinded from 2nl, currently at 5nl but nit vs nit constantly etc..

Just start opening up more vs the nits and still value bet your strong hands, but take different "standard" lines vs the nits who will likely fold unless they have a monster themselves.

I've actually been reading your posts, you're pretty inspirational!

I've earned maybe £1000 in the last 18 months playing on Sky, but i keep withdrawing profit, i'm really struggling to keep the roll online so i'm gonna actually try now. Perhaps when things get going i'll keep a diary too.

Yeah I hated 5nl too. I would skip it if I had to grind up from 2nl again

Actually there are a lot of ppl thta make a living playing 5NL on pokerstars. 5 NL is even for mass multitable or fish. If you want to try your skills in poker playing 4-6 tables you will be bored to death . It requires a lot of discipline and patience. I withdrawed 400 dollars from my BR to by a 27 inch monitor so i am back again at 5 NL. I have some problems with my eyes so a 22 inch screen was not enough to play more than 6 tables at once.
Anyway it should not take more than 1 mounth to go up to 10 NL again rolled with 50 BI. I would play at 2NL but i simply do not have the time to play more than 2 hour during the week.

lol, like who? unless were getting including thirdworld 50tablers (im sure there would be some), nobody makes a living doing this. i think if i lived in thailand or something, i could make a living from 1c2c, but it would by no means be ideal.

Man do not be that full of yourself.
A profit of 500 $ a mounth or better is a fortune for 80% of the ppl in the world. In my country 10 years ago 300-500$ a mounth was like the biggest income someone could get working a full day job. Now 1500$ a mounth is not something that someone cannot get but there are still countries in the Est of Europe where 150$ a mounth is the average like our sister Republic of Moldova. And this is Europe. There is worse in the world. Much worse. There are countries where they sell kidneys for less than what you could get in a year at 5 NL.

how am i being full of myself? i have plenty of stats and graphs showing at least $50USD a week at 2NL, which is enough to live off, but only comfortably in a place like thailand where their dollar is so weak- and id still be struggling. i mean lets be honest, i was living off 2NL winnings for what, a month or something earlier this year, in AUS?

now australia does have much higher living expenses and consequently wages than a lot of other places, so this could be biasing what im saying, but regardless nobody is sitting at 5NL and playing for a living there when they can very easily move up to 10NL and make a ton more, against players of the same skill level as at 5NL

$500 a month isn't enough for the other 20% of the world .........£70 a week in the uk......about the same as jobseekers allowance......I think I will move up to 10nl if I beat 2nl..

Like I said, i made AT LEAST $50 a week. This puts me in the 200/400 per month range. But myself, black rain and whoever that other guy is all move up, because we realise we can make more higher. My point was, people sticking at a micro stake arent making 100buy ins a month. And yeah, I wasn't really clear about this in my prev post but were talking about 5 NL or higher.

I could be wrong, but I'd bet that the only reason black rain put in so much micro work is so he could write a book on how I crush micros, have the stats to back up his crushing ( which tbh at 2nl isn't really hard) and sell it for a shit ton of money. No disrespect to him, and I'm no claiming to be better. I'm just saying its not someone "playing 5nl for a living" which is what swingro was suggesting and I was responding to
