I've been playing online poker for a year or so now with varied success. I seem to have neither made or lost money for a long time! However many games I play, I always seem to break even. Does anybody use any poker tools here? I've read online that the ones I'm looking at are allowed by almost all poker rooms. Do they offer you any real advantage?

A lot of people here i know use Poker Tracker and Poker Hud for stats etc - this is mainly to try to find strengths or weakness in their games.

I have tried lots of different types of tools - but to be honest i found them distracting from the game and often ended up turning them off before the end of the game :(.

I prefer going by the feel of the game and watching how the others are playing - and not waiting for a middle man (poker-tool) to show me my options etc.

They may help the newer player and alert them to some possibilities they may not have thought of.

By all means check them out - mine is just a personal opinon after all.

Good Luck

:)

I use Poker Office with the table overlay, and it's a huge help especially when multitabling.

Stats such as Bet Flop % or Preflop Raise % can be very telling. When someone's Bet Flop % is extremely low, let's say 12 %, you check to them and they bet out, you can be very certain that they're not betting with thin air.

When somebody calls your flop bet and you see that their Flop-Turn percentage is 68% you really need not be worried about them having a hand. You're simply dealing with a notorious flop caller and can probably take down the pot by betting the turn (Turn-River % is very telling here).

There's a whole bunch of stats that can give you an edge in the game. And then of course collecting your own stats is a huge help when it comes to analyzing possible leaks and weaknesses in your game.

I'm interested....spam or no. I have seen the pokerprophecy tool's website, but I have a mac for now and can't use it. Are there any that have actually helped anybody? I know stats alone can be deceiving. I think a player with bad stats can give a false sense of dominance to the player with good stats.

PokerOffice looked OK, if you play Holdem. Since I generally play Omaha, that left Poker Tracker Omaha and PokerAce Hud as a combination to display stats on-screen.
It's also good for helping you to stop kidding yourself about how you're doing overall, and for collecting together results from various different sites.
That said, I don't always use PokerAce Hud to display the stats on-screen, so a lot of the time it's more just keeping track of things, and having the occasional look back over a session to see the main factors behind the profit or the loss - so I can see if I'm overplaying middling hands, and so on.
