:as4:We all want to hone our games like a pro...One skill is
how to bet effectively with any hand, and another is playing the pot odds!
:ks4:It's the odds both implied and real that are over rated..imho.
No matter how big a favorite you are, without the nuts, you are always susceptible to a beat.
:qs4:Recently, like everyone my hands have been getting overcome by longshots at the turn and/or river.
:js4:It just doesn't pay to gamble too much without the nuts, no matter how big your hand might be.
:10s4:Unfortunately and rarely does anyone have the nuts..That leads us back to it's all done over the long haul..Endurance is a must!
How do you build up endurance and stamina? Or can you?

...another is focusing on your/opponents' reactions, during AND after the hand

...If I win $5000 today, my wife still might make me take out the trash, it's a gamble... but i want to know the exact %, in order to know whether or not to come home AFTER that win

...Endurance is more mental than physical! Sure, your back will hurt after few hrs., and your nuts may go numb (or... that might just be be :() , but you absolutely MUST practice the focus you put towards your emotions. Not just your negative, but also practice keeping the "I'm the best player in the world, & I'm going to let everyone know it" stuff away from your game.

People break down mentally first... then their bodies follow, in all sports, games, etc. Practice recognizing every negative thought that pops into your head while you're playing. Don't even do anything about it at first... just recognize what you're thinking, and how you're reacting.

After you do that for a bit... we'll get down to your REAL FIX!

Good luck,
Dayne

You can bring your "mental training" you do while you're running onto the poker table.

Great runners focus only on their inhale and exhale, especially later in the race... this helps lose the physical pain their feeling in their legs, lungs, shoulders, etc., and helps them find the all-illusive ZONE!!!

Bring this same type of training to the poker table, and you'll be amazed at how calm you will stay under the pressure of long sessions and/or tournaments... INHALE, EXHALE, INHALE, EXHALE...

Until you experience this technique first hand, you won't believe the immediate results!

Good luck,
Dayne
