Hi I'm quite clueless as to whether my conclusions are right or not since I just started playing fairly recently. Hope someone can correct me if im wrong on this.

i played longhand 9 players table, late position(2 seats before button)

my hand: As 9c

[preflop]
sb
bb
p1 calls
nuts raises 5x bb
me calls
button calls
sb,bb folds
p1 calls

flop: 8h 10d 7s

[flop]
nuts raises 10x bb (at this point in time pot: 0.63, 0.20 to call)

ended w me, button and p1 folding.

So what i wanted to ask is assuming that my tell on nuts player is tt hes a TAG, should i have played on past the flop since i prolly put him b/w a range of premium hands (ie. high suited paints or high pockets, etc) so i couldve pulled a straight draw against him.

of course im thinking i should be aware tt my ace may be pretty useless if he had like AK/AQ (be it suited or offsuit) so i was really still quite clueless and i must say im pretty bothered by this play heh..

any pointers on this would be most welcomed!

If you put him on high pockets or a big ace why did you call in the first place. What were you trying to hit with the A9, the best you could hope for was to hit an ace or flop a straight draw of some sort (which you did).. im only raising with A9 not calling. I would have folded to the initial raise.

fold pre, call the flop, call turn if he bets <=1/4 pot.

@steveiam i was thinking along e lines where i could play my ragged since im in a better position. is this kind of mindset a common mistake tts rather absurd? or could there be a few exceptions?

@doomasiggy icic.. most likely folding if i missed on the turn since he's likely to cbet all the way..

pointers greatly appreciated

The call preflop is pointless w/o a plan post flop. By the way, that flop isn't getting any sweeter for A9o, you have to get it in imo. You have to be well bank rolled so you can make plays, can't be scared to lose your $.

I agree with Lucky Bundy.

You have OESD on the flop and when you raise him he has to consider sets and even some kind of J9s flopped straight.

You have 32% equity against AA even if he calls but consider he might have AK here and against that you have 40% equity.

Even if you lose you build aggro image and that helps with the times you need payoff on good hands.
