Recently saw a high stakes cash game and the one player talked about how he loves Q2. I must say it’s a cool two pair hand. Who is going to think you have Q2 when the board comes Q 2 X?

Anyway are there any hands in your arsenal that you find sneaky? I have really been enjoying Q-10 and Q-9.

Just go to poker calculator and see the odds of this type of hand. It's a bit bellow mediocre, it loses to ranges that most regs plays, at best it's 50/50 against some 10 9.

Who is going to think you have Q2 when the board comes Q 2 X, the same argument can be used as who's going to think you have 73 when 7 3 X comes.

It just seems to me on the long run it's a lose lose situation.

Even at high stakes, players have a favorite hand. Q2 is a terrible to have really. Even if you make two pair, it could be counterfeited easily by the board.

I enjoy playing with any 10 to A with a low card from 2 to 7 , but it has to be suited. I tend to catch flush draws most of the time, if i don't catch the flush i come to a 2 pair :D then people rant about how i play with these type of hands.
But my Fav. hand would be K3s lol

Marginal hands, if they are single-handed with any denomination and position...

I notice playing online, that Q8,K4, and A6 seem to play out better than they should. I do not get it.

Selective bias, when this types of hands play out, your brain pays more attention to it. Try using poker tracker, you'll see the win/lose ration matches the math.

Of course, the game is at a distance with marginal hands will not make you win.
And those who have a "favorite cards" just do not realize that it is with them, and often they lose.
Go to Q-2 in hand - bad, in almost any situation.

Recently saw a high stakes cash game and the one player talked about how he loves Q2...

And you believed that?! :icon_joke

Equilab says:

Equity Win Tie
MP2 47.30% 45.11% 2.19% { Qd2s }
MP3 52.70% 50.52% 2.19% { random }

A Queen-Doosh is a dog to an ATC range. Show me a ( Q,2-o ) and shove all-in and I don't even have to look before calling to have an edge that's about the same as the Craps table and sports book.

( Q,2-s ) is a slight favorite against ATC:

Equity Win Tie
MP2 50.17% 48.10% 2.07% { Qc2c }
MP3 49.83% 47.76% 2.07% { random }

It's a trash hand that does even worse against a range that's not random. How often does it hit a two-pair? 396 flops have ( Q, 2, x ) and there are 19600 possible flops, so that's 396/19600= 2.02%. It happens once every 50 times you hold ( Q, 2 ). Even when it gets there, it's still a top and bottom pair at best. If the flop comes down ( Q, J, 2 ) how much are you loving your hand now? How about ( A, Q, 2 ) or ( K, Q, 2 )? Still lovin' it? What do you do when the turn pairs the board's middle card, counterfeiting your two-pair?

Still believe that high stakes pro wasn't BS-ing you to help his bottom line by encouraging fish to play like fish? That's what I would do, knowing that the vast majority of sheeple out there believe anything if they saw/heard it on TV. after all, the "History" Channel runs these BS programs about "ancient astronauts" and other crap like that that the sheeple lap up like antifreeze at a petting zoo.

There are occasions when it makes sense to play a hand like that. It's the nature of the game: if you open from UTG, your range is necessarily very narrow. Pop out of the #1 hole with ( Q,J ) and you'll fold out hands you dominate and you'll be called (at least) by hands that dominate you. You know it, and your opponents know it. You sometimes have to keep 'em guessing by opening ( Q,2 ) flopping two pair or better, and getting paid off. The next time you pop with aces or kings, they will still have that tiny seed of a doubt if they've seen you showdown a trash hand.

You need to keep your more astute opponents guessing, but this isn't something you want to make a habit of doing. A good player will remember for a good long time.

"But my Fav. hand would be K3s lol"

My four favorite hands are:

( A,A )
( K,K )
( Q,Q )
( J,J )

For me it’s usually AA, AK or KK. (As it would be with anyone!)

I’m usually paying more attention to the other players, getting/ conforming reads on showdown, and repping better hands on a decent board when others look like they will fold.

I do not know how Q-2. But I love the hand of Q-8. one of the favorites. For some reason I was lucky with Q-8 not once

No

I hear and see people play garbage hands and sometimes they do win. However, I don't play garbage hands and like to keep to a tight playing style.
