I'm looking to grind up through the micros and was looking for people who grind there for the better style of play? I feel comfortable playing tight or loose (obviously agressive) but down here in the dumpsters, players typically play so fundamentally bad there just waiting for premiums to come seems to be the safest way for me to play, as i cannot seem to get people to fold their drawing hands. I'm just looking to get thoughts and advice on this.

edit

To save myself from creating a whole new thread I could also use some advice on how to play with a big stack, in the past I've always left the table after i've made a certain amount, but after reading some threads here, valid points were made about staying at the table. Any pointers?

Tight play is extremely profitable. LAG play demands much more skill and offers very little in extra profits. Play tight and play it well and you'll make money.

Playing with more than 100bb allows you potential for a higher winrate, but requires more skill. It's not something that can be adequately explained, I think I could write a few thousand words and not get you past the basics (and half of what I know is probably wrong anyway).
My suggestion is to start with 100bb and when you get comfortable with post-flop play, start playing deeper.

hey there. wish we had a little more info on what stakes you play exactly, you said you play microstakes, however this goes from 2nl to 25nl and it surely aint the same thing.

on the other hand, i play mainly 6 max at 5nl and these are my stats:
Vol. Put $ In Pot 13.18
Raised Preflop 10.04
BB Won Per Hand 6.69

i hope you know what these numbers stand for. anyway, tight preflop works for me, a 6.69bb/100 is not bad especially for 6 max. people say i am too tight but as far as i am concerned as long as i am making a good profit i wont be changing much.

you can see more of my stats here if you are interested:

Yes, I know what those numbers stand for, and seeing those numbers is really helpful. I play around 25/20 vpip/pfr. I know I dont have a huge sample size but I think i'll tighten up just a little bit more, hopefully get rid of a few more roller coaster sessions.

start thinking of vpip as a positional relative. if you are play 25 vpip from the button you are doing fine. how is your vpip accross seats?
ABC poker is the best way to ensure winning in uNL btw. positionally aware TAG.

no point in playing LAG in micros. Successful LAG player requires somewhat thinking opponents who can fold and you must play stakes which are high enough to help you with the fold equity..

I have never seen a person on 2 or 5NL to fold A high flush draw or top pair when you raise them... You have to go all in to make them fold and it won't happen most of the time...

Take it from someone who has been losing recently due to trying to play anything but tight at 2NL, IT DOES NOT WORK. They will call with ATC and you will get beaten if you don't play tight.
