Well I want to hear how other players play their small to mid pocket pairs.

First, I want to share how I approach playing with pairs in cash games.

-w/ someone opening the pot with a standard raise I always look at my implied odds and just inclined to call for set-mining especially if there are other callers > on the flop it would be easier to fold on a multiway pot if u miss ur set especially if there is an overcard on the board

-on other occasions where it is heads up, I still am just inclined in calling for set-mining and If I miss the flop I float flops with aggresive players c-betting and fold sometimes of course, it is really just up to the situation

-of course it is much easier to play win you hit you're set:D

What are other strategies on playing small pairs?Let me know;)

It sounds like you have a decent strategy. One key is that you aren't going to hit a set often and aren't going to get paid off often either so in order to make them work you need to win other ways. bluff raising c-bet or check raise bluffing help with this. If you are called you can still catch a miracle set on the turn or river. I would add open limping is not helpful and if you are 3 bet you may be better off just tossing small pocket pairs.

Play them in position when you are getting at least 15 to 1, preferably 20 to 1

Position makes it easier to get paid and minimum 15 to 1 because alot of the time even when you hit, you wont get paid

I always play the small pocket pairs with position, going up from CO or BTN if no one has entered the hand before me, if a player has already paid the big blind I call

I always use them to steal blinds against tight players.

1 If late position ,1,2 players limp , just limp and hope flop a set !
2. If no 1 call , raise and try to take blinds! You can c bet on flop , but don't too aggressive !

I play small pocket pairs from mid to late position as long as I can limp into the pot. If i limp in and some one raises, I just put it down. If I hit though, i always proceed with caution just in case any higher pair has also hit.

I'd personally open with all pocket pairs, and probably call the majority of other people's opens with them too unless they're like a super nit.

Postflop depending on the board texture I'll often cbet as the aggressor or call the opponents cbet as most players will cbet with air to try and get folds.

Being first in especially in late position is almost always a raise to try to steal the blinds unless you have a good read to the players on your left, if they like to 3 bet to protect there position. If someone opens then just flatting and trying to catch a set is probably a good play if the dynamics are right again players on your left is the key. Good luck on the felts!

I think it depends on stakes, players who are playing etc.

On 1/2, depending on the players who play Ax, it might work good.

But even if you hit a set, on 1/2 live, lot of players chase and might hit a bigger set or the straights/flushes.

So it might depend on how bigger/smaller stack you might want to gamble with.

I only play may be 3/10 times on 1/2 live because the odds of winning with it are pretty low.

Small pocket pairs?
In poker, it is difficult to predict! I for instance: Lost with AA against 33. In addition, the spitting image of the tournament first. It's a shame, is not it?

I'm just going to agree with all the above. Position is the key to playing any hand. AA UTG 4 bet hoping to move the crap hands out, but to get 1 or 2 callers. AA in late position, if you have limpers or 3 or 4 bet before you, it's all in. 33 UTG goes in the muck. 33 on the button without callers before you, 3 bet to steal the blinds. 33 on the button with big raise before you, again in the muck, but if you can limp or call a small raise, and you don't think the SB or BB will raise, then go for it and hope for the set. This is how I play, but there is so much more to consider, and you need to find out, and learn what those things are. GL to you

I think so...there is a certain progression in the small pair and large. sometimes I sit at the table put on a large map and plays just fine and sometimes Vice versa - put on small plays big... Need to sit...to get accustomed to the game and make a conclusion - what cards preferably today - in the game - play more often. I used to play only small maps.....and very often

In General, if to speak about raising the winnings can only say for certain cache tables of course small maps and small pairs play much less. although it is sometimes how it goes with small map
