Hello,

In the dealer position preflop, you make the call and neither SB or BB raise, let's say with 5 people in the pot.

Let's say your intention this hand was to bluff and you don't have any significant caRDS. The flop comes rainbow and it checks around to you, would you throw out a minimum, medium or a larger bet?

Turn is another blank that everyone checks. Bet again, but how big or small?

River, where would you think you stand seeing any checks, bets or raises.

I hope this isn't too vague, just wondering some bluffing strategy.

thanks......

It is too vague, sorry.

Bluffing is way too marginal to be able to say how I'd do it without knowing the players tendencies.

However, I can say that most of the time I don't bluff here. I've got to get through 4 other players, two of them are the blinds. Any flop in the JT7 region is a problem against the two callers, and with two blinds that have completely random cards, any flop could hit them well (and they're in a position where a lot of people like to check-raise monster hands).
If I've got to get through 4 players, it's very rare that I bluff. I may semi-bluff, but still would consider just taking free cards and drawing in this spot.

Another thing to note is that I don't go into a hand planning to bluff very often, usually I go in with cards, maybe I'm setting up for a bluff but I do have cards. Maybe it's AT or JT or something like that (AT so I've got the A high to back me up, JTs because there are a lot of flops I'm going to be able to bluff with a lot of outs), but I'll have something.

It's very, very rare that I intend to bluff from the beginning. Don't get me wrong, you have to set up a bluff, not just throw out a bet, but you make up the story after the flop and figure out what would be consistent and convincing.
About the only circumstance where I plan to bluff is if I know someone else folds too easy, or has JJ/QQ, in which case I'll take the flop with my rubish hand, hope to spike two pair/trips or an A or K and take the pot away, but there it's dependent on a pre-flop raise from the guy with the big pocket pair to isolate it to heads up.

when i play from dealer position i always intend on controlling the hand and throw out a significant bet to see how players respond and try to get a fix on a weak player or a bluffer.if there are solid players or tight players most will fold to a strong bet and that will lead me to get a good read on most people at the table.your strategy is a solid way to play and i will use your info and tips to become a better player.thanx for the posted info.

Hello,

Stop here. Don't limp the button. If you take control of the pot here and don't give the blinds the opportunity to limp, you are usually better off.

A lot also depends on your opponents, so it may be OK to limp behind here with 2 limpers before you, but with 5 people in the pot it is fairly risky betting when you whiff.
