Hello Everyone,

I have been busted three times playing AQoff in freerolls recently. I was getting close to the money, and each time, I hit the queen on the flop. Once I lost two a set of queens, another time I lost to AA, and the last time I lost to a set of threes. Is there a proper pre flop raise? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Scott

Hmm, it's pretty situation specific. By specifics I don't mean this is the hands that beat you, but your position at the table, the stack sizes, blinds, reads.

If you're close to ITM in a freeroll, then I'm assuming it's close to the end (unless you mean 0.12 for 750th at a pokerstars FPP freeroll) since most freerolls only pay the final few. That usually means the blinds are high relative to the stacks sizes, which usually means push AQ preflop.

Even that general advice depends on stack sizes though.

Like ninelions said it's going to be pretty specific to the situation. I would be playing AQ fairly aggressively preflop, raise it up and see what kind of action you get and then reevaluate. You weren't going to push the A's or Q's off their hands, so you're definately going to want a read on the players. Sounds like you just ran into some bad luck.
