AK is a great starting hand but not so much when your oop (out of position). The route I have taken with this hand is to limp in, in early position and raise 4x +1x per caller in late pos, I have found that when I limp in oop I occasionally get raised by someone categorized as a "rock" Then i feel as though my only option is to call the raise and play from behind hoping to catch a king or Ace and keep the pots small If I miss on a "wet" board (Ex:8d9d10h) I have no problem laying this hand down on the flop. In late position I am always raising pre flop and sending out a C-bet on about 85% of boards and about 40% of the time if I haven't hit i will send out a c-bet on turn, for me personally you will get a fold or folds a majority of the time. I have found this to be the best way to extract the most value when in late pos and to save the most money in early pos.
This is how I play AK to date
If my stratedgy is wrong or can be helped I would appreciate constructive criticism if it is the right way, you can thank me for the helpful tips, Just kidding
