AK is a great starting hand but not so much when your oop (out of position). The route I have taken with this hand is to limp in, in early position and raise 4x +1x per caller in late pos, I have found that when I limp in oop I occasionally get raised by someone categorized as a "rock" Then i feel as though my only option is to call the raise and play from behind hoping to catch a king or Ace and keep the pots small If I miss on a "wet" board (Ex:8d9d10h) I have no problem laying this hand down on the flop. In late position I am always raising pre flop and sending out a C-bet on about 85% of boards and about 40% of the time if I haven't hit i will send out a c-bet on turn, for me personally you will get a fold or folds a majority of the time. I have found this to be the best way to extract the most value when in late pos and to save the most money in early pos.

This is how I play AK to date
If my stratedgy is wrong or can be helped I would appreciate constructive criticism if it is the right way, you can thank me for the helpful tips, Just kidding

Never limp with AK, no matter what position. It's definitely not a great strategy. AK is a premium hand and should be played that way. It sounds like you are playing not to lose rather than playing to win.

I would suggest doing some research around here and on Google to give yourself a better idea of starting preflop ranges.

I'd play A K aggressively, however you'll have to watch out for those who might have a decent pair betting pre-flop.
If you limp in or bet conservatively then then if K or A comes on the flop and they hit trips they can bet & you'll lose the hand.
Depends on position too.

I agree. Please don't limp AK, it's one of the best drawing hands you can get. You are missing value & aggression when you limp AK.

Trapping?

The only reason to limp OOP is to trap. Then spring the trap when the button raises.

If you limp in with your premium hands please do not cry to us when you TPTK gets crushed by the bb with a boat on a A337T board. Don't ask me why he didn't fold T3

I like to raise 2x as a semi limp and then if A or K comes down on the flop i hope somebody bets it heavily. Say a K comes on the flop and not much else, maybe K 3 8 and no scary flush draws, if somebody puts a big bet in i will re-raise hoping my A kicker floors them. I realise i could get crushed by someone holding a small pocket pair and hitting trips on the flop, but im an eternal optimist and try to play as if i'm way ahead. (Even when i'm not..)
