I play $2-3 blinds in a NL poker room. buyin is $100. My style is a hybrid of tight and loose, but aggressive. I have been playing well, but lately I have lost alot of money. I lost $1300 this week (luckily, it was money won the past 2 months). I am now contemplating on changing my style a bit. For example, one hand, i raise $15 with (AQos). 2 callers and then i flopp top pair and top kicker (Q 9 6). First position bets half the pot ($30), and then I go all-in sensing weakness, and i don't have many chips (i call his $30 and raise around $50). Last position calls and has a set of 6's. I lose. Any thoughts?

In that one specific example you didn't do much wrong. It was just bad luck the other guy had a set. If you have $1300 to lose from the last 2 months winnings, you are doing something right, right?

Thx for the input. I guess losing money 3 days in a row takes away my confidence. I'll have to take a short break, then i'll start playing again.

playing with a proper stack at 2/5 (i dunno any casinos that run 2/3. assuming it's a typo) you will have enough money to avoid sets all in, even if you arent closing action.

PS if you are seriously playing 2/3 you need to be hyper aggressive in the sb when limped to you, and obv button/co/hijack.

$100 is pretty small for a 2/3 game in my opinion. So any TPTK is going to be getting all their money in I'd say. Is $100 the max? Maybe try going down to a $1/2 game.

In this case I think anyone in your position would of done the same. The pocket pairs that turn into trips on the flop especially in this case the low card 6 is a real bummer. I'ts called gambling and you're going to see things like this happen. I'll share with you what happened to me Sunday I had fullhouse AAAKK I was counting my money. ALL IN of course the guy drew a straight flush. I can't tell you what I said here. So just hang in you'll get your share of the so called garbage flops go your way

i would seriously like to know if it is really a 2/3 game, or if it's a 2/4(casinos are starting to run these) or a normal 2/5 game.

Check the hawaiian gardens website. Its 2-3. Yea, i just got back today and am overall down $100. I lost $200 to a suck out. I raise to $15 late position with AA and get 2 callers. Flop: Q 8 4 (all different suits). First caller checks, i bet the pot ($45), last position goes all-in (covers my $200). I read correctly putting him on a pair of Q's and no set. I call. turn comes J and river is junk. He has QJos. Bad week for me.

I think if you lost for three days in a row it is time to lower the stakes and work your way back up.So atleast your not losing quite as much money. But alway keep in mind that everyone has a streek of bad luck from time to time. Good luck

He had hit a straight flush? What was the board, sounds like a royal flush, was it?

Yea I figured it was a royal I was just asking cuz you know. Damn. Thats gotta be the ultimate bad beat of all time. I think Phil Hellmuth would've probably stabbed the guy in the eye to death with a playing card.
