players per flop

I am playing on a site where there are a lot of limpers in each pot . I know that is supposed to be a good thing but i am not sure how to play it ... . If I get a good starting card like KK or AK it seems to me it is almost no point raising pre-flop because I get 5 callers . And I don't feel like raising too large with AK since it won't connect with flop most of the time . With calling station type players , I can't shake them off post-flop especially with so many in the pot ...

I am playing a TAG style but on these tables I find that i tighten up even more preflop and then just wait for close to the nuts since so many players are in the pot .
I am used to stealing the blinds on normal tables but here I can't steal so I find my stack just keeps shrinking until I can find some strong hit on the flop .

What is the approach I should take here ? Should I raise like 10xBB preflop with most of my holdings ?

I recently had a similar problem, you have to go back to basics and tighten your range OOP, and play hand which are going to get you paid off well or easy to through away, small ppith suite connectors you are often going to get good prices for draws as the fish with often be check calling.

When you have a monster peflop, find a range that they are going to call, 15bb if you think the fish will still callthen go to value town on them, you have to remember that fish will often check call so you have alot of pot control if you worried that an over pair is going to be cacked, when you hit a monster the calling station will pay you off to make all of the wast raises with ace king ace queen profitable, it is very much a game of patience and isolating the fish, if you find yourself playing too many hands multi table.

Also your cbets should dramatically reduce, only using them for value never to get someone of a better hand as it wont happen, lots of fish is ahrd to begin with but great when you adjust.

depends on what limit the game is.....if it is 2nl, then you bet x3 plus x1 for each caller if you have a AK, 10's through aces......if you have small/medium pocket pairs then just call if someone has limped in before you.....if you have a big hand pre then you want to go up against less opponents....pocket pairs, the more the better....

Playnow.com .. It is government run site up here in canada . Traffic is low but I self excluded myself from Stars so i have no choice . I wish I didn't do that but oh well .

I've been playing at playnow.com for about a month and can't make any money . I am playing conservatively so not losing much but not winning either . I guess I am still no good .

I was losing on Stars and I decided I would tighten up a lot and be careful . So 1st day of my new strategy , I have KK and get one caller and one guy 3 bets . Ok , I knew the 3 bettor has AA because he is tight and he wouldn't 3-bet 2 people . I was certain he had AA so I decide to just call instead of 4-bet hoping I can catch a K on the flop . So I catch the K , trips . He bets , we end up all in and sure enough he has AA but he catches another A on the turn !! I was so pissed I had enough of poker , i self excluded myself for 6 months , LOL .

Yea mate that sucks, but when weighing up the positives against the negatives you put someone on their exact hand, got your money in as what 10/1 favourite, but you got to be at the stage where your happy that you played well, big part of poker is nt steaming coz u got sucked out, but eventually you will start concentrating on loosing the minimum when the variance is kicking in, all you can do is get your money in good!

The theory of tight is right is correct, but in the modern era you need to be in their with the fish to make any money, so you need to isolationg fish in good spots, suited aces and kings, pocket pairs, you can't just wait for aces and get your money in because unless your plamying lots of tables the profit wont be worth the time.

I am not sure what the laws are but I have tried most of the sites without a problem . I might go back to merge network or full tilt when it reopens .

Right now I am taking a break because I am definitely doing something wrong . I've been trying to wait patiently for good hands like 2 pair and better but that doesn't seem to be working . I go days without hitting anything . And even when I do , i don't get paid off .

I play micro stakes and I dabble once in a while with 0.50/1 ( the highest I've played ) .
Are you making money in this ? Is it really possible ?

with a strong hand like AK why wouldn't you wanna punish the limpers? who cares if you don't connect that often. playing against tons of people in a limped pot sucks you don't want other peoples shit hands to connect. raise it up its better to play heads instead of playing with with a 5 way limped pots. You will get yourself in weird spots. Raise like a whale.

Try raising a bit more preflop to weed out more players and look to isolate one or two of them. If they keep calling than keep going bigger and bigger!

Having a good hand in pre-flops, be aggressive and illiminate the weak hands, if you have unlucky day, sometimes weak hands wins.
