Why almost all the begginers just "fall in love" with their hands, such as AK, AQ etc.
How to stop this?
Need an advice :D

"Good hands" are known as good hands because of their equity pre-flop. Raise them preflop to get value out of them, but once the flop comes out you got to re-evaluate their equity based on the texture of the board and how your opponents act.

Your hand strength depends on several other things. Your perceived range, your opponents range, board texture. AsKs on a Kh5h4c6c7h board may not be as strong vs a wider opponent's range. They could have a lot more suited connectors in their range like 89 of hearts. In a vacuum situation (no history of opponent) you have to pot control when your hand isn't as strong vs a larger portion of your opponent's range if that makes sense.

Don't go broke with Top pair on a super wet board.

A hand is nothing without context of the cards on the table if you ask me.

AK ? AA? QA? Sure they can increase your chances but end of day- you just know someone (and that someone will be me on occasion) is playing 4 7 offsuit - just because it's so unexpected... or 2 9 - and hits the two pair. heh

I don't succumb to AK fever, but my oh my - I've seen SO many people - barking down the parking lot (I create random goofy terms instead of common 'flop - turn - river), all the way to the feed wagon with their AK and I'll have 22 or 55 etc.

People somehow think that ratty AK will magically win them ANY hand.

Perhaps we can blame youtube ! heh and all the videos where people say 'You MUST shove on AK or My Gawwwwwd- you FOLDED AK'

Heck - I've folded AA before.

Sometimes you can read the board and realize- there is a straight going on - and there USUALLY IS when you read it that way.

Me? EVERY card can be as powerful as any other, with exception that the higher cards by MERE ORDINAL value - higher being more valuable - have a SLIGHT advantage...

Someone having Trip 2's cracking their AA has probably sent many a fool drinking heavily way too early before lunch.

Now, I DO favor anything 5 and below - because the Ace has a special dual purpose of play in my world. Then again I HAVE watched tutorials - etc- but at the same time? I like to develop my own sense of intuition and I place final table a LOT - I need to move to higher stakes indeed.. I play safe and conservative.

It all depends on the range of hands that opponents play. Of course, preflop must necessarily raise - after the flop has already assessed the situation.

That is a ok play when you have a M around 10,
that is a gambling play when you have a M above 22
and a lot of poker players are gamblers ;):)

I think a good combination will turn out only after the river-card and at that time it can be 2.7...

you just need to understand that the main thing is not the hands, but the money or the equity (income) that the hands bring, taking a large bank conditionally with k7 and losing with KK you understand that the main thing is not the hands, but the chips that go to you

It comes down to strategy, I raise preflop to weed out along for the ride hands. Then depending on the flop, I reraise to see who is serious or check if I missed the board. This is my MO, 80% of the time.

these hands are strong before the flop, so beginners love them, but if the flop opens and you don't see your older pair, they don't throw this hand away anymore thinking that it will come later and lose a lot of money

Strong hands are favourite to all poker players. The purpose is the evolution of the hand to be as we would like. Even the board likes these strong cards!

I love AK, it's a very strong hand, but like AA, it doesn't assure a win.

It is necessary to look not only at your cards, but also to know from what position you can go with them and what chance you have to the bank if an ollin arrives for you, then you should evaluate which cards the opponent got into

Try looking at hands on a solver like GTOWizard.com. Figure out what ranges are good on different flops. Study more than you play!

they need to learn that cards do not win you a pot ....YOU do first and foremost . and good hands can easily cost you a lot when you can not let them go . you have to be able to spot it when you are beat and then you have to let your premium hand go if necessary . poker is not only about cards .....if that was the case then everybody would just wait for premium hands and play them and make money

Who knows what is a good hand or not. 22 pre-flop can be a good hand against a recreational one.

I think it's because they are really good hands, but sometimes they lose.

No advice here will help you, you should always play with this card and hope for luck, cowardice in poker will not lead to good, I was convinced of this more than once.

A common mistake from newbies, is having favourite hands like 10/Jack suited or A/K suited etc, etc, Sure 10/Jack is a good hand if you hit a Straight because any straight you make cannot be beaten by another straight, eg. Flop comes A,K,Q, you then have the Nut Straight, or 7,8,9, again you have the nut straight, but they still can be beaten by Flushes and a Full house.
The one thing to remember playing Holdem is that any 2 cards can win no matter what they are, even 7/2 if the flop comes 2.2,2.
I once got 9/3 dealt on my BB no one raised me so I checked, the fop came down 3.3,9, and being first to act I checked, then some idiot with pocket 10s pushes all-in, of course I had to call, I could still have been beaten if a 10 showed on the Turn or River but what were the odds of that happening.
I call him an idiot not because he shoved all-in with an over pair, I have done the same in some situations, but his mistake was NOT! raising pre-flop, If he had raised before the Flop I would probably folded the 9,3 off before the hand started.
Some people ask "What's Your Favourite Hand?" I always reply "The Winning One" Do not fall in love with any two cards it is dangerous and can be very expensive.

I think those hands are good to play. However, it is worse with KQ or KJ, when even the combination of A2 before the flop can be a problem for us, if we don't even hit a pair after the river...
