It is a mistake to make an aggressive play at cash tables,
you have to make a game more leisurely with gentle ascents

I believe likewise. Cash game is a small ball thing while a tournament is a big ball thing.

Terrible, really terrible advice. Anyone who stumbles across this thread can safely ignore the first two posts. You're welcome.

Ditto to Cafeman - really bad advice. I am assuming it is coming from a place of not entirely understanding how to play aggressive and it not working out for the playerrs - which is exactly what will happen if you, for example, think playing aggressive means playing a wider range all the time.

Maybe it is reason reasonable to make an aggressive play .I know I sometimes fold the middle stong or quite strong cards. Generally speaking,I hate and afraid to face the aggressive player. But you shouldn't let others know it is true or not.

Aggression is a key aspect to poker. Just make sure it is well timed and not just for the hell of it. Aggressive play can make opponents play sub optimally. It can make opponents fold when they should call and call when they should fold. You just have to be super aware of the table dynamic your image and your opponents playing style. If a rock enters a pot and is betting the whole way, odds are he has it and will not fold. Make moves and be aggressive but like in life, timing is everything.

Absolutely agree with the others, any poker game requires aggression, the only time I won big was being aggressive at certain time at the games. Was playing live games a couple weekends ago, my wife wasn't being aggressive enough at the right times and lost. I told her to play her best card better, be aggressive especially when your chip leader. She did exactly that the second night and took him 100 profit , wasn't a lot but it just shows that it's important in the game. I saw other players was taking advantage of her by seeing her play too tight, so they were being aggressive and taking her chips the first night. It's just a small example how aggressiveness comes in.

It sounds like you are channeling your aggression at the tables at the wrong times. A lot of people watch TV poker and think mindless, unrelenting aggression is how you crush the game. It isn't at all. Every move should have a meaning and a goal. Do you want a call? Fold? Are you inducing a bluff? Betting for value? Raising for value? What bet/raise size will accomplish what I want?

Not everyone plays with the same degree of aggression, but the ones that win are not passive. If you aren't betting or raising when you should be doing so, you will lose.

It's only a mistake to be aggressive when you do so in inappropriate situations and/or to inappropriate degrees. As a general approach, it's definitely better than being passive.
