Hiya all, just basically wanted to get some views on this, mostly applying to live... My local live game can get extremely loose, its £100NL..
Iv'e spoke to another player who stated when he opens big pairs he often makes it 7x in this game to discourage calls, but 3-4x with the rest of his opening range.
Now this is the type of game where an UTG open usually gets no respect if its 3x and you'll go to the flop with a lot of callers, so I can see his point sort of, but he's giving away way too much info IMO. I could argue he's losing value from weaker pairs, etc but to be fair he may be losing equity with a smaller raise as in that case more players are to the flop. On the other hand these are extremely LOOSE players.
If I'm opening up 7x with big PP then I'm opening up 7x with my whole range.
Just wanted to get some thoughts on this and how others deal with this situation that seems to frequently come up live (not just in this game, in others I've played as well). It's also the type of loose play seen frequently in early stage tournament play (limp in, call a raise to try and hit the flop, spazz out when you do), which I never increase my PFR size unless adjusting for limpers.
It should be noted I have not as yet increased my PFR in this game (still 3-4x position dependent) except when adding 1bb for each limper (which normally leaves you raising 7-8x after all the limping done when you IP lmfao).
So any thoughts guys?
