Hello!

I have decided to give poker a try.

My background in poker is kind of limited, played NL2-NL10 in late 2014 and a couple months further.
What made me quit was due to lack of plans and poor excuses.

But now I want to give it an honest chance.

Decided that I am going to start at NL2 with $80 (40 BIs).
Next step will be NL25 at $200 (BIs) and then decide BRM for further levels after that.

I started with this challenge yesterday and got in a few hands.

I got a hand that I want to show, did I do the right thing? (is there a better way to paste the hands than this?)

Villain is 11/8 over 71 hands.

Im calling copywrite ;)

Raise bigger pre. If you are folding you should folding the turn. Call turn fold river doesnt make much sense.

Good luck. In.

Villains at these stakes rarely raise without 2p+. We are getting less than 4:1 implied odds on this turn call.

So, it's pretty safe to say we need an ace. The chances that will happen is about 4%, or 19:1 underdog.

I would probably fold turn here. I just don't think you will encounter many Vs that are creative enough to raise with semI bluffs/less than 2p.

You still should watch them. If you encounter one, keep notes on them for future use.

Raise bigger pre. At least 4x, but I raise to $0.12 and up, if I ever play $2.00 NLHE. They just love lighting money on fire pre.

When watching it now, it sure looks weird to call turn and fold river.
Definetly agree, either I call all the way with a reason or fold to his raise on turn.

Thank you!

Thanks for reviewing!

Agreeing with you, folding to the rr on turn is probably the best option here.

Due to different reasons my previous try ended in a short notice.

Today I start my new quest to try and figure out what poker has in mind for me.

Starting at NL2 with 40 BIs.

Let´s see what we can do from here.

So, got in a session today, about 450 hands.

Tried a pretty simple approach.

Going to read "Crushing The Microstakes" again and watch Nathan Williams videos and take notes from them, that is my studying focus from now on.

Next time I will bring a few hands.

Man, I STRONGLY suggest you reading John Anhalt's "Polished Poker Vol 1". That book is absolute gold. Seriously - it is filled with information on how to beat low level cash games consistently. And here's the best part - it's free!

I am currently grinding out the micros myself, and it has helped me tremendously. Best of luck at the tables! :)

I know what you mean, when you play a hand, you don't see your mistakes until you review the hand or someone else reviews the hand. I am guilty of that myself. It does suck to fold AA, but I think the fold on the turn would of been the correct approach.

GL with your grind, hope you get a lot of run goods.

Thanks for cheering!

AA hand was a while ago, restarted my challenge yesterday.
But I am totally agreeing with what you are writing.

Got in a session today also with 538 hands.

Decent playing, won 1 big pot and a few minor.
My biggest loss was 31bb against a shortstack fish.

Today I got a hand that I would love to get opinions on where I folded a straight.

Villain is 33/10 over 43 hands. In HEM it says "Flop bets -> Donk Bet -> 71% (7)

My thought process was something like:

I have to give credit to a pot sized donk bet, but still wanted to call IP with an OESD + overpair while the pot was fairly small.

But with another psb on the turn it yelled flush. Why do that when you are a passive player and out of position if you don´t have the flush?

What is your thoughts? Should I fold on the flop? Correct play? Call turn?

Hey pennygrinder. in this case when he leads out into you, I think he has to have at least 2 pair here. Maybe flopped a straight, maybe has a pair a big club. Maybe flopped a really low flush and thats why he's taking this line. It would be okay to fold, but I don't mind a call either. Once he bets on the turn it's an easy fold and thats what you did.
