So a couple weeks ago I made a post asking how hard it is beat live poker games.
1-2 dollar cash games at my local casino.
I know getting a straight answer is hard.

You guys had some great advice and I decided I couldn't help myself.

So I took $100 dollars, 50BB, and went for it. I figured I didn't need much more because my style of playing isn't trying to stack people. It's beating them over and over again in small pots and building up pots when i hold a monster.
So 50BB was fine for me.

I made $100 dollars within 2 hours of being there. So I left.
I came back the next day and played maybe 6 hours, I was there till 4am.
I made $200 starting with 50BB again!!!

The games are incredibly soft. You have young guys who don't really put in the time to figure the game out, you can usually take them out with top pair because they can't stand the idea of being beat out of any pot i suppose.

The old guys that sit there frequently are so tight and mostly just play straight up, it's not hard to get a read on them and fold.

And most of the good players go to the 1-3 dollar tables NL or PL omaha, when they do play the 1-2 dollar tables it seems like they get bored and loosen up way too much.

My question.
I made $300 dollars in two days enjoying my hobby, I know there's no way I can continue that right?

My goal would be $300 dollars a month, I know it's not much, but it is to me. I'm freaking 22 and don't make that much. That'll help pay for bills.

From what I understand 10BB per 100 hands is crushing it...

If I play 25hands per hour live that means I should only expect to make $20 dollars every 4 hours on a perfect day? That doesn't seem right..

If you are a good player, the play is soft and, most importantly, if the players never adjust to your play, then it's possibly to sustain a win rate of about $30 per/hour at 1/2 live. So you might be able to average $300 per month playing 10-12 hours live per month.

Good luck.

Wow.. well that's really motivating. Thank you for the advice. And they don't adjust.. I try and keep myself from talking but I asked a guy why he would 4 bet me out of position with 7-7 and he's like "what's 4 betting?" So I just kept away from any fancy play and did mostly ABC poker. It seems like i could just call down enough bluffs to do okay.

Keep in mind that I'm not saying that you, specifically, can sustain a win rate of $30/hour. Nor am I saying that you cannot sustain that win rate. I don't know anything about your game or your temperament, so I'm not a position to assess that. I'm simply saying that very good players can sustain win rates of $30/hour at 1/2 live. Most of them choose not to stay at 1/2, but that's a different story.

I would caution you against getting too bluff-cally live unless you're playing against clear maniacs. In my experience, there is much less bluffing live than online because of the embarrassment factor. I'm not saying that you shouldn't ever call what you suspect is a bluff --- but it shouldn't be a cornerstone of your game.

Good luck.

I completely understand that. I don't expect to make $30 an hour, I'm just happy not being a loser in the game. I just wanted to know what realistic standards are. I will continue to work on my game online for a bargain and hopefully one day be able to do this.

"Get a job" be quiet you peanut. Working for the man will never make you a success either. If you said something along the lines of invest your money in a business or an ETF stock because it'll work more efficiently then maybe your opinion would matter. It's people like me who end up hiring dip-shits like you because you think others are "GODS" when in reality they're just assholes who don't listen to pessimist like you. People like you who like to tell others they can't do things simply because you can't. Get the hell out of here.

Rock on man! Keep playing live. I WISH I could play live. There's not a damn casino in sight where I live *sigh*. Online is fun, but sometimes I want to play with actual people (not behind a computer screen)

Nice work bro. The funny thing is I've found the exact opposite to what you've described. The older people are really loose passive calling stations. The younger players are often also online players and they are usually TAGfish but a few of them are decent. I'd say 1/50 live players is actually semi decent.

I guess it all depends on where you are playing! I completely agree with your theory of certain types of people playing tight and the others playing loose! Keep up the good work, and let us know how your month works out!

live poker is great, until you get a bad streak.
I played also for one year, 4 times a week going to casino's.
Was great, good winnings overall, but when you face badbeats for three days in a row and you end up 1200 euro in just 3 days, it's less fun :) Also the fact that you live at night most of the time and that your bio-clock is going to be messed up, is difficult. Apart from that, good luck, but know that the real results are over a bigger period of time than a couple of sessions ;)

Try to read books & articles about a good poker mindset, because you also need that playing live!
