Local casino is having a paid to play promotion. For every 8 hours of play get 150 bucks only on couple of days / week for this month.

Now, I want to know what is the best strategy for playing to get paid. Will we have many chasers? Will everyone just play ABCD style? Will I have to watch out for collusion? How would your best strategy be for earning the most money for this promotion?

I've never been a part of a promotion like that, but if your goal is to collect the free money after 8 hours of play, I may actually be tempted to play tight/passive. Play for small pots where you aren't getting much of your stack in so you can survive as long as possible even if you're not winning much money. Be willing to give up pots to large bets which may put you all in.

$150 for every 8 hours? That is $18.75/hour, you can litterally sit their and fold every hand that is not AA if you are playing 1-2 (Hell you can probably even fold AA) and make some money because 6 orbits in an hour is not a thing when I play live. If you have a small bankroll, only play TOP TIER hands(AA,KK,QQ,AK). If you have a larger bankroll, know other players are going to be playing tighter than normal so feel free to steal some blinds/3bet a little looser(If they are not calling stations)

Wow that is a great promotion which paid $150/8 hrs of play. I would definitely just grab a seat and would only play AA, KK, or fold all day long

8 hours to play for $ 150? Maybe it's better to find a job?))) 8 hours is a full-time working day ......
This is a joke of course ...
Play your usual game and do not strain, if you win and spend more than 8 hours - $ 150 - will be an additional bonus.
And to sit 8 hours and throw off all hands except AA, AK - I would be bored

I’d say follow your instincts and play by all of the above rules you’ve listed!

If you're just going to play for the bonus 150 just fold everything.

I really disagree with taking this line because I believe there is a far more profitable approach. As always, your goal should be to play a solid, theoretically correct game. That being said, this is a great opportunity to exploit.

If you want to print money, watch the table. Attack the players that are being nits to try to collect the bonus. If you get lucky and get a table full of nits, you'll make a killing just stealing the blinds.

Chances are that you'll have a mix of players. Some playing for the bonus and others to play poker. It will be stupid easy to range the nits. Avoid playing the real trash you're stealing with against three bets from the nits. You know they are probably playing less than 5% of their hands. If you can find good equity against the top of their range and you get the right price calling 3 bets with your suited connectors / gappers to try to make a hand against the top of their range you can take down big pots.

The other advantage that you have against the nits playing for the bonus, Is that they probably aren't going to play for big pots without something close to the nuts. This gives you a great opportunity to blow them off their equity with your semi bluffs.

Eg. You have 89h. Nit has xx
You raise to 10 pre, nit 3 bets to 30 or something reasonable for us to call with a hand like this. Pair and any draw, any combo draw... You will have so many options to basically make them think is it worth getting my in with XX over pair and if I lose I still gotta sit here for Y hours to get my bonus.

Or you caught them in the pot with AK / AQ and they fold.

You have an amazing opportunity to exploit weak players. I really think that being a nit to collect a bonus is the incorrect line here.

I hope thats 1-2 game. Play a little calmer than usual, it will give you the confidence of the table, which in turn will make it possible to profitably bluffing.
