Could people give me some opening ranges for ring games.

Have been using chuckts suggestions for full ring tables

Early position (UTG-UTG+1): Raise {AJs+, AQo+, TT+}, limp {22-99}
Middle position (MP1-MP3): Raise {ATs+, AJo+, KQs+, 66+}, limp {22-55}
Late position (CO-SB): Raise {most aces, most broadway, suited connectors, some offsuit connectors 22+}

what about 6 max?

4 max?

1 0n 1?

thanks

Here you go. Here is a cheat sheet that may seem a little "Professor"ial but I won't tell you where I got it from. I hope I'm not violating any copyright laws here.

Preflop

I just hope you can read it. I know its not that great of a copy.

Nice one, thanks

What do people think.. looks TAG to me.. which is the style im working on now anyway.

What about 6 max and so on?

Im playing small stakes Sit and Go's and my trouble happens closer to the bubble.

For SnG's your range should be very dynamic with the increasing blinds & decreasing players. So thinking of standard opening ranges is pretty pointless.

I wouldn't pop it up in a 6max ring game in the SB with anything but a good pair. Even AK becomes a good check-raise trapping hand in a short-handed cash game in the SB if you hit the Ace.
I usually play short-handed ring games. Some people love to call behind you with big pairs if you make a decent raise - making it look like a call with a middle pair - to trap you if you don't hit that Ace and make a continuation bet. Notice who these people are because they can really mess up your VERY STANDARD starting hand strategy. They've read the same book as you, so they now know what your hand ranges are and how to make the most from you. That's one problem when following a list of standard hand rankings in standard positions in a volatile game like short handed ring games.
It really pays to try to get creative once in a while. Show that junk when you hit the nuts. The villians will think you're crazy. Then you can play using the standard list.

On the button I hear that raising is always the right strategy but playing every hand on the button is an easily exploitable strategy - folks will bet into you.

One thing that is really frustrating is seeing your unraised pot go to the BB as the SB meekly folds :mad:

At the same time I always seem to have the big stack to my left:eek: so I have to pace my button steal attempts.

Mostly though it depends on teh players. I can't believe how many times I have played with passive chip leaders on my left who fold to all my steal attempts (yes I did make notes on them:p )

On the button OPEN raising is always the right strategy....but if you have limpers or a raise in front it is NOT the right strategy unless you have a re-raising hand (def of a re-raising hand depends on you, the table, stacks, how many and who is in the pot before you etc))

It would be better for you to tell us where you got it, so that our bases are covered. I can edit it into your post if you like.

Holy crap people use those. I know good starting hands but have no theory in position when to raise or call. I play by the seat of my pants, lol. This explains alot.

That is a chart that Howard Lederer made. I believe it comes with one of his DVD series. Not trying to get anyone in trouble. Just pointing it out.

Nice post Jokish, thnx.
It`s def. a good reminder, allthough I suggest to vary your raises and callings or else you`re much easy to read.
Just wondering if it`s a big difference if you play a full table(9-10 players).
You have a chart for these as well or are they much the same?

Oh I cant take credit for that chart. I did not create it :( A friend of mine that plays cash games on stars sent it to me. I have only used it twice. I am not a big cash game fan because i always lose. LOL :D

And yes it is a pretty big difference playing at a full table. Sadly i have no chart for that. :(
