Hey so I've made the transition from a tournament player to cash and am having a hard time picking a site to play on. I played on party poker for a couple of days crushing it but there isn't that many full ring tables running, 5-6 at max with no way of getting on a list. I also don't like the lay out of party poker and it's confusing when I need a little more time to make a decision as there is no button I can see for the time bank. The one thing I like is that there is a rake back system in place that pays you out every Monday. Now I'm playing on pokerstars which a lot of people say is the toughest site, but at NL10 it seems easier than party poker. Than again I only played maybe 1-2k hands. The thing I don't like is I hear PokerStars has increased there take structure for micro/low stakes and is geared more towards the recreational player, which I am not planning to be much longer. My question to all of you who play the micro's is which site do you play on and why? Also if you are not a micro player and play NL50, NL100, or NL200 which site do you play on and why? I can always switch sites once my bankroll allows me to play low stakes because I won't be making much of a living stacking $10 or $25 every 2 hours.

Which Site

Hi Dainius,

If you have only just recently moved over to Cash then I would recommend you play on some of the softer sites like iPoker, 888 or maybe 32red. partypoker is pretty soft too so good place to start. Personally I play at FullTilt because I enjoy the increased difficulty of the opponents there. I find it helps my game to play against opponent's who can wipe the floor with me. But it might not be a good idea for you to do that while you're still making the transition. You don't wanna become an ATM for the regs. I'd say get on 888 and see how you go. Loads of football dad donks playing on the ipad while waiting for their chinese and gettting henpecked by the wife. $$$$$

How is full tilt still operating after their huge scam?

Full Tilt was purchased by poker stars and runs as a skin on their network, now. So, you're playing on Stars. As part of the agreement, Stars paid back all the players on Full Tilt.

Wow that's very surprising! You'd think any business or company would do anything to avoid associating itself with another company that was caught red handed with fraud on such a large scale. I wonder what was the benefit to PokerStars in this acquisition.

I mean continuing to play at FullTilt after what happened is like continuing to go to a restaurant that gave you food poisoning every time. The restaurant will eventually go out of business but can you imagine a potential buyer comes along and willingly chooses to buy this restaurant and continue to run it under the same name? That's just crazy.

I think the brand 'Full TIlt' and the general appearance, usability of the interface was worth much more to Pokerstars by keeping it intact. I think it's the best looking software during gameplay. Very slick product and they knew that a lot of users would be angry if they changed it to the previous default Pokerstars theme.

How does ACR compare to the others in terms of softness? I find the competition pretty tough even at microstakes. But that might be due to the fact I'm the fish.

Wish I could play at other sites but as new york resident that's pretty much my only option.

And what's annoying is my only deposit option is to use bitcoin. Most people don't know/understand bitcoin and to get a recs to deposit there is clearly a challenge.

Just last night it took 12hrs for the bitcoin deposit to go through. Ge

Ok I can understand those factors but that's still a huge bet to make knowing that this brand you are acquiring is associated with fraud. Just a really weird bet to make, that this fraudulent company and brand would be profitable in any shape or form.

Yes and no. The amount of goodwill Stars won by paying back all of the missing funds was unbelievable. Consider how much faith they established for themselves. Not only did they manage to pay me back, within a couple weeks of black Friday, but they stepped up and paid me back for another site that they weren't even responsible for. Actually, their payment will also go towards paying me back some of my funds from Absolute Poker as well.

Not only did they buy their biggest rival, but they established a pristine reputation and placed themselves as a white knight in the community.

There is another factor that you might be missing. All of the videos, TV shows, and wsop replays with FTP branding are still out there. People still watch them. Every time someone watches Poker After Dark on youtube, they see Full Tilt front and center. And, when they decide to go play on Full Tilt, who gets that business? Poker Stars. They basically went back in time and purchased all that advertising that Full Tilt had, and Full Tilt had some of the best in the market.

Yeah totally. I think that as a "Brand" FullTilt is still a lot more credible than Pokerstars. I agree with everything you said about being the white knight etc, absolutely. It's weird though, because the whole black friday thing should have destroyed FullTilt's reputation as both a brand and a logo, but it didn't! People still loved the interface and the software even after all that. When a brand has enough loyalty from its following it can survive anything. Think about big companies like CocaCola, McDonalds, Nestle or Nike who've all been involved in huge scandals that rocked the world, but all their customer's are still lining up because they associate certain things in their lives with those names. That's what happened with FullTilt. By the time Black Friday happened, it was already too late. The name and product as a whole had already been imprinted on everyone who took the game seriously.

I used to love PS for tournaments (unfortunately, U.S. player). Even to this day, they have the best tournaments.

When you start talking 10nl and 25nl I don't think it matters which site you play on as far as the game goes. Your going to hit a ton of people that have no idea what they are doing.

I think the important thing in the decision is:

1. Traffic

The higher the traffic on cash games the more profitable it will be. You simply will run into more bad players.

2. Payouts

How easy is it to get your money out of the site. I want to be able to deposit and cash out quickly. Not a big fan of getting a large bankroll stuck on a site.

Not sure why you can't deposit using a card, I do all that the time....

Being from the States I don't have much to compare it too, but I'm really liking ACR. I've played everything from the micro's up to 1/2 and 2/4. The games are relatively soft (as soft as you can expect to find anymore, which is to say not very much. Everyone knows how to play poker now, and everyone knows more strategy these days)

But overall I'd say ACR is good, the games are fairly plentiful, they have a good selection of tournaments, and there appears to be a lot of player (but definetly plenty of regs too)

Everything depends on your bankroll and your style of play so you can decide the tables and the application of poker that you like
