Are these two games specific to Ultimate Bet? I've heard of Omaha before but never with the suffix /8b.

Can anyone briefly explain the difference? or is this somthing that requires some research?:stupido:

Omaha 8b / Omaha 8 Best / Omaha High Low / Omaha HiLo - is a twist on the standard Omaha setup that enables play for two pots: one for the lowest hand and one for the highest.

Setup is the same as standard Omaha. 4 handcards and 5 community cards with standard betting after flop, turn and river. Your hand MUST be made using 2 hand cards and 3 community cards.

Players can then piece together both a low hand and a high hand. The high hand is bog standard poker hands. The low hand is the lowest possible hand using A as lowest card (Notice A playes as both highest and lowest).

A2345 is the dream catch but low hands doesnt have to include normal poker hands as straight, flush, etc. Its simply the lowest hand possible. 8 is the highest card allowed for a low hand. If the community cards doesnt include 3 low cards, no low hand can be made and the highest hand takes the whole pot. If a low hand can be made, the highest and the lowest hands split the pot.

The real dynamics of the game lies in the fact that in order to do well you have to aim for those hands that will give you both the high and the low pot (a scoop).

You can see strategy details on a number of sites - and its HIGHLY recommended to study those before starting throwing money at HiLo :)

JetSet Poker and PokerHost has HiLo freerolls - good places to practise.

omaha hi/lo is the place to make the big $$ online ......at pokerroom.com ive made $1750 in the past month just playing at the $1/2 PL tables...all you have to do is play extremely tight at a full ten seat table and what for the monster hands where you take both hi/lo....believe hold'em is overrated when you are tryin to make some money

bpazjr is right, hilo or the 8's or better games are a money pit.

So many players play them badly that you can clean up if your careful.

They aren't specific to UB at all, they are a poker varient just like holdem is and nearly all the sites will have at least one or the other, if not both.

I have played both PLO hi/lo and PLO high and i prefer PLO high because i am winning much more than hi/lo. i have won alomost $200 in the last week playing $0.10/$0.25 and $0.25/$0.50 blinds, if this seems like a lot for the blinds it is because i play 3 tables at once. PLO high is a pretty easy to win money at once you have a simple plan and stick to it.
