Not a typical which game is better. FYI
Sort of a 2 part question,
1) Is Omaha hi lo(or even standard) more profitable or have less swing variance?
2) At what stakes would you say Omaha begins to be more serious and harder.
So to give some context to my question, in my experience at micro stakes, Omaha Hi Lo seems to be very easy. Some are even sitting there not knowing what a low hand is. And some are sitting there because its the only place they can with their last 40 cents or whatever.
There are some good players too, but at what stakes would you stop having such easy competition. Im talking people that maybe only know top 10 starting hands from googling and don’t even know how the game works.
The variance thing and profitability thing only interested me because when searching first for an answer before posting, I came across a lot of stuff about how high pair whole cards don’t dominate etc as regular Omaha players know.
I thought, at least with pot limit, the swings in your bankroll may not be as big, but the hand swings like getting your hand cracked maybe easier.
I heard once some pros talking about how fun and easy omaha was and how easy it is to bluff.
And the only counter argument that i could think of to the Varience thing, is that it is maybe easier to lay down a hand and tell if you’re beat. Like easier to lay down trips or AA with a flush in the board. (i get in serious games though this is where the bluffing and reading the pros were talking about).
