Omaha

:hello: OK here goes,I've been starting to play Omaha and have read resources here and in books,I've played several SNG buy-ins and haven't done bad at them. What is the best way to start playing on tables,I mean NL or limit poker till I get the hang of it or does it matter? Having trouble with the H L and when I have won it's been H. Help I need and suggestions to help me get it lined out.:hello: :turtle:

The OmahaH/L articles Dorkus wrote were a great help for me. Personally I only play limit. NL and even PL omaha hi/lo is just too crazy for me. gosh, this probably isn't very helpful. hi/lo's a great game, though, so best of luck.

If you just started learning and playing it, definitely limit. The articles on Omaha in the Articles section is a great start.

Shel I'd say definitely limit H/L to start off and get the feel for the game, I personally play mostly Omaha H/L everyday and have made some nice change playing at stars they have a range of SnG's daily from 3.00 to hundreds if you wanna try that, I play the 5.00 9 person sng and have had some pretty good success at them, players are pretty solid at stars and always a game to be had hope to see you at the tables and also they have their play money Omaha and H/L I play them all for practice and it helps my game alot

Limit ring O8 is by far the best way to start, for a couple of main reasons.

- It teaches starting hand selection better than tournaments. You can sit and grind it out waiting for powerful hands to play in loose ring games, but you will often reach a point where you are forced to play marginal hands in tournaments. It's better as far as a learning process goes to just be focused on your hand and its possibilities than being concerned with other things like blinds and stack sizes.

- In loose limit games, getting quartered (winning half of the high or the low pot) is much less of a concern than in pot limit, as you may well profit despite getting quartered if a lot of players stick around.

Limit ring O8 is very mechanical though - I have trouble playing just one table of it anymore because you will have periods where you're foldfoldfolding, or your big hands aren't hitting and you're check-folding a lot of flops (bluffing in low limit ring O8 is invariably a really stupid idea).

Thanks Guys you were all very helpful to me,maybe I might see you sometime at a H/L game. Yes I read on forum about Omaha and it was very helpful and interesting. Sometimes just need to try new things.

Personally dont like H/L, like the PL Omaha. If you are just starting out stay with Limit though, but get ready because you will have a lot more chasing in a limit game versus NL or PL.

Keep in mind also that Omaha is a river game and you cannot play the same strategy that you would in Holdem or you will find yourself losing.
