I am just starting to write notes on players. I want to know what sort on things I should be writing. I put such things as passive, agressive, call machene. Help! I have not seen much on the topic.

passive means players dont play alot of hands, aggressive means players bet alot with alot of hands and call machine means some one calls alot with alot of hands.

Passive has nothing to do with the number of hands played. It identifies the way a player bets or calls with a hand.

The below thread should help with the lexicon of poker.

Regarding the original question, see below.

Sometimes I'll note; how many flops they're seeing, how often they raise pre-flop, and how often they fold to a bet/raise on the flop.

I just keep a running total with tick marks as a quick reference. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

If everyone has seen ten flops except one guy who hasn't seen any and he suddenly raises pre-flop... he probably has the goods.

Now I don't suggest this, (more for ethical reason) but on a poker site not open to Americans anymore...I use to keep very detailed stats from an on-line database. When I approched a new SNG... I had a basic idea of what I was up against before the game started....avg. buy-in, % finish, and so on.... Unfair advantage or cheating you ask? Not when everyone has access to the same information.

Instead of call machene you should put "**** machine"

Ask yourself this before posting any response.

"Will those who read this derive any benefit from my thought processes, or is it obvious I really want 50 posts in order to play?"

I like to note the kind of plays they make. If they tend to chase, do they overvalue certain cards, can they be pushed off a winning hand, do they have trouble letting go of hands. Which means I only note a player that I am able to observe for a while.
