Nl2 swings

I play in full tilt and have a BR of 16$ i got from playing freerolls and multitabling in order to produce rakeback (breaking even i think). Some days ago i started playing only 4 tables at once in the shallow tables with 40c each. One session i got like 4 buy-ins up and the other i lost them back, and sometimes even more.

I may be shortstacked but i don't play in order to go all-in on the flop, i do have experience and know how to play. Today i realised that maybe my swings are due to the pre-flop raise (4BB + limper). Using this type of raise, normally i'd raise about 12/14c, except for early position ofc. I think this may cause a downspiral in profits because i would have to win the hand many times in order to profit from such a big pre flop raise, also considering that when i actually doubled up, it would only be 40c profit. Adding this to the 12c lost in blinds every 9 hands, it may indeed be diminishing my profits.

I'd like to get your insight and know if that may actually be the cause. I've read many articles and never ran into a player who had been successfull playing with 40c in shallow tables so i don't have a profitable strategy to follow.

Play with 100bb stacks.

You're costing yourself money by playing short.

Also, research SPR (stack to pot ratio) and pay attention to what it does to your stacking ranges. - The short answer to this is that if you're not going all in on the flop on a regular basis when the effective stack is that short, you're making a big mistake. The bigger issue though is that if you're not adjusting to this with stacks at 20bb, would you adjust your ranges appropriately even with an effective stack of 100bb (multiple players to the flop, 3bet/4bet pots, big/small pre-flop bet sizes...).

Because no good player plays them.
I don't know if they're beatable (I haven't played them but I doubt that they are) but there is absolutely less money to be made off of them.

play at least 50BB deep, a while back ago i had the same amount you have, i joined tables (on pokerstars) for 1$ and played really tight, when i got my bankroll up to 30-40 $ i realized i was way better off playing 100 BB deep, or even having everyone covered, the winnings went up in the sky just by making this change and still playing the same.

when you face a fish you want to take all his money, ofhen you will lose more of course, but if you are playing better than the average player at your level you will be making a profit in time.

i think you should give a try to playing 50 BB deep or even 100 BB deep, play really tight, tighter than tight, only like AA KK QQ AK AQ and occasionally AJ AT TT 99 KQ, position and villain dependent. and if you can try to limp in an uraised pot with any pair, do not play suited connectors just yet, time will come.

I'm gonna start playing with 40BB (full stack at the shallow tables) and see where it goes. I don't want to play with 100BB because i'd be playing scared money, i only have 20$.. Besides, there seem to be much more fish at the shallow tables.

Hopefully, i'll start winning consistently and be able to move up to playing big stack.
