When i first started playing poker i only played NL holdem. i eventually got bored of that and switched to limit. It has been a while since i have played NL and i am thinking about playing it again. does anybody have any tips about the difference between NL and Limit, NL in general or NL SNGs. that would be great

You can enforce your positional advantage much further in NL. It's more costly to play dominated/RIO hands, and calling is often the worst play unless you're trapping, whereas in limit, it's often best to flat call lots of rivers.

There's lots of material on NL strategy, and I'd worry more about reading that than the differences between it and limit.

Wat? You should be raising way more often playing the min-raise game... Heads up, playing limit hold'em, I very frequently raise the flop if I've hit *any* pair.

Yeah, my limit hold'em is biased, because it was all live $2/$4-$5/$10 so different dynamic than HU online.

Well, I kinda meant heads up on the flop...

But you're right, 2/4 live is ridiculous. I think JTs is probably the nuts preflop in that game. Seeing the flop with 4+ players on a regular basis really changes how you play the game.

But I digress....

Playing the big bet game, you can get paid off a lot more when you make a big hand. And conversely, you can spew off a lot more when you make a kinda big, but not really that big hand.

However, you can also charge fish tons of money to draw to those big hands with your kinda big but not really that big hand. So yeah, its complicated, and they're really different.
