re: Poker & New to forum & cash games
You really need to grasp some fundamentals of poker:
Variance - You have to mentally prepare yourself for some brutal swings. I mean really, really prepare yourself. If you think your gonna lose your mind losing say 10 buy ins in a session, and there's no way of you getting your head around it, then give up now because you will have many of these and it's possible to have losing streaks lasting 20-30 buy ins or more, believe me! Your success as a poker pplayer is not about yesterdays's session or todays, it about the long run!
The long run - Your sample size is really small to take anything meaningful from. If you think your a winning or losing player after 3k hands then you have no grasp at all what the long run is. Variance will hopefully equal itself out over many many hands. How many? Well you need to have played literally 100's of thousands of hands or even millions for these things to have some perspective. I mean you could get some meaningful information from say 50k hands or so for stats and winrate, but variance will take a lot longer to even out than that.
Bankroll management. - The above 2 topics are the reasons why you should plactise BRM. Having enough buy ins as a buffer to absorb the variance and keep you in the long run game. Without this, your basically just gambling and hoping to spin your money up.
