After playing online poker for around 12 years now, I've always played tournaments or SNG's. I've tried cash games off and on with no positive results. I'm going to try again and really apply myself.

I've reached the age and health to where I can't play long tournaments. I'll still do SNG's.

I'm mainly going to play on Bovada where the players can't track me down like chum in shark infested waters. as some the regulars here at CC know I'm a super tight player.

Anyway, what are a few main things that I might need to change from tournament play to cash game play?

Thanks

Cash game is an entirely different animal then Tournaments.the aggression is a lot higher and poeple making a lot more moves based on position. Tournaments are generally about survival and longevity. Cash game is finding your open raising range of hands and sticking with it. Most people at my local casino have anywhere between 1-2 buyins in here pocket so typically there not worrying about being felted. So it can be misleading thinking well this guy is short stacked or he will back off he only has X amount left. If your a tight player you will probably have to show a bluff to get action

The main thing is getting used to playing with deeper stacks. Most cash games are going to be 100 big blinds deep, so there will actually be play after the flop. You have to allow for that. Top pr might be fine to get it in with when you're 30 bbs deep in a tourney, but it's a very different prospect when you're 100 bbs deep in a cash game.

Some general changes (nothing is iron clad):

Never 4bet anything other than AA KK QQ unless you have a read on your opponent.

No more shoving preflop with AK.
Watch JCarver/Jason Somerville Twitch streams. Play small ball.

Play 46s, 57s,68s in position if you can get in for 3big blinds or less. ALWAYS.

Stop playing AJo,KJo,K10o,Q10o, QJo UTG or UTG+1

All your preflop ranges will change from tournament to cash game play.

If you can afford it, pick a low stakes game like .01-.02 NL and try and win EVERY hand if at all possible. This is amazing practice for figuring out ranges in different scenarios. You won't be playing profitable poker during these 'Win every hand' sessions, but you'll learn a ton.

Ignore bold?

You don't play in position with gapped suited connectors when you get in cheap?
You 4bet with AQ or worse without a read on your opponent?
You open with AJo OOP(UTG or UTG+1)?

Seems like some rookie mistakes.
All the books I've read (Super system, Harrington on Hold 'em, Power Hold'em, Moorman Book of Poker) advise not playing AJo UTG. They also all advise playing suited connectors in position. Even if they're gapped like 68s.

Very few of my ideas are my own. I'm usually just parroting something I've read by a pro whom I trust.

Cash strategy

I typically like to join a waiting list, maybe about 2-3 ahead in line. While waiting to jump I watch the table, look for patterns or tendencies. Then when it's your turn to go to the table you have somewhat of a feel for how the others play, and if you're lucky you'll get to see a few showdowns and see how they use position and what not. It's not a foolproof system, as you'll have to adapt to the table. Then from there hopefully you catch some cards, or can be aggressive enough to steal some pots.

Sure i do but what is IP call from MP or CO vs UTG, MP opens then u have players to act after u ? Eff stack sizes is a factor here 2. So don`t say this:
"Play 46s, 57s,68s in position if you can get in for 3big blinds or less. ALWAYS."

You 4bet with AQ or worse without a read on your opponent?

u must have more that 1.3% 4bet range in general

You open with AJo OOP(UTG or UTG+1)?

u have pos on blinds and yes i open AJ UTG and MP(as 90% cash game population does. I hope we on same page here and talking about 6max(SH) tables)

Seems like u read some old books that some strategies my not be so much suited for these days poker.
