and today, I have been ITM in my last 5 FT $1 S'n'G's.

If nothing else I need to reward myself with a shot at something bigger.

My BR there is $110. and the $1 games fit nicely in a proper BR managment scheme.

So, should I stick with the $1 games, move to the $2 games, or just take a shot at a $5 game?

The two freerolls I've played with you, you have dominated DJ. I know it's a small sample but, I'd say go for it and GL man!

take a shot at the 2$s first and if you do well in first few, then maybe take a stab in the dark at the 5$

50 buyins for $2s is fine.

Maybe use half your profit from the $2s to play a $5 when possible or something?

definitely move up from the $1s, you're paying 25% rake

i really wouldn't even mind doing the $5s regularly or at least whenever you can. the rake is the standard 10% starting there, lower (slightly) than the $2s

I say $2 games also. I adhere to a 30x buy-in rule with sngs, so $5 games are out. If you grind your bankroll up to around $140 I would move up ($165 is exactly 30 buy-ins for $5 sngs).

Of course, if you are feeling frisky you have enough for 20 buy-ins at the $5 level.

Like Chris suggestion, good BRM is always appropriate.

Play in a $100 game, think of the money you'll win if/when you money.

If you want a reward and have $110 even. Then I would take the $10 and play two $5.
One is not enough, and limiting yourself to one isn't good pressure on yourself for the first and only one. Where as you know you are playing twice, so in the first one, you play knowing you got another chance, so a lot less pressure. Plus You can get a feel for any adjustments in the tourney play at a higher level.
That would still leave you 50 buy-ins @ $2 which is plenty.

I say go with what you are feeling, if you are feeling great then why not do what you want, it all depends on how your rolling, if your pocket 2s are cracking rockets then why not you mine as well do what you gotta do!

lol, great advice

Give the $5 games a go. Keep playing half $1 SNGs to balance your approach. WHen your BR gets to $200 switch to $5 SNGs as long as they are profitable for you.

But what is your TOTAL BR. IMO that is what should dictate the size game you play. I have my money spread among four sites but use my total for game level.

Hats off to you making that bankroll playing the $1 SnGs with their rake!

Yucky icky 25% rake - move up to the $2 as it fits your BR just fine with same rake = mo' profit. Fwiw taking shots up levels sucks ime as if you lose you've lost larger than normal buyin and if you win you end up taking more shots = bad brm.

I like this advice. Gives you a chance to throw a couple $5's in, while still practicing good bankroll management. Something to mix it up a little, while still being sane.

Actually, all the CC event satisfy most of my desire to reward myself with the occasional foray into bigger buy-ins. However, I know most of the players in those, and for the most part they are more competitive than I can normally deal with.

That was an unusual streak, it cooled when I did the first $2 game. I didn't play badly at all, just that all streaks seem to end.

I agree that the rake at FT is borderline outrageous, but that is where the BR is at. I think if I could shift it anywhere, I might shift it to one of the Cake Poker skin sites.

I did get to do the CCOP ME, which was plenty big enuf to satify the urge for something more rewarding. Got coolered there too, but not because of totally donkish play. Semi-donkish maybe.....

Move up, you will still be grinding those in a year due to rake if you never move up and competition at the 2 and 5$ being probably as fishy. Good BRM management also means maximising your profits, not only minimizing your risk of ruin (wich, with 25 buyins and knowing when to step down, is taken care of).

Mmm. Not sure about this. I have money spread across 5 sites too but I tend to treat them as seperate BR's and play within the limits of each. Guess it depends how big the rolls are, I suppose also if you move money between the different sites to balance them then it is an option.

My long term goal is to build 0-1000 on all 5! I'm in it for the grind.

In response to OP. I reckon you should stick at the $2 games until you get to 150 then move up, and then set yourself the limits at which you go up (and back down at!). You have 50 buy-ins at $2 and so are comfortable. I actually started playing these even before the BR could technically support them just because of the rake thing. I would start with these as entry level even if I had just $20 on FT. The games are pretty soft.
