Ok so here's what I'm waitin for. I got an entry into the $20,000 canada Freeroll because I made my first deposit between May1st and may 31st.

Anyhooooo, there are 203 people registered so far and I am wondering if I should play really tight throughout the tourney so that I can place for some money...

Any ideas, tips or strategies would be helpful, Thanks :)

Not sure what the payout structure is but I suspect with only around 200 players play should be pretty tight early. I wonder how many of the 203 have opened up 2nd accounts to be able to play?. I would be very aggresive with premium hands and good position, there may well be donkish play early too so choose your starting hands with care. It's not a huge field so I would not be limping in any position, eg if you normaly call with suited connectors, make a raise instead. One thing I find distacting on Stars more than anywhere are the avatars, block them out and also keep chat to a minimum.

you should play this tourny like any other. remember, your goal is not to get "in the money" but to win. if you look at last-in-the-money compared with first place, the difference is daunting.. often times by a factor of 100x+ - meaning you would need to get in bottom of the money 100 times or win just once. you have a premium ticket because its valued at ~$100 at the moment. as general tournament strategy, and it will obviously apply to this one, see <15% of your hands during the first 4-5 levels, then slowly loosen up as you need to. if you need more specific advice just ask, or read strategy somewhere..

I agree that you need to play your regular game, aiming for first...not just ITM. I also agree that TAG is best. Actually, I would recommend super-aggresive. If you hit the nuts on the flop or turn, a ridiculous overbet could be handsomely rewarded by others since it is a freeroll.

there are a lot of beginners in that sort of tournaments
So you have to play real tight
And make action after flop and river
if you have a good or even excellent hand
you will find a lot of calling stations
