I'm mainly a 100 NL player but haven't had massive success on those tables. I win some money here and there.

I've also tried 300 NL recently and 500 NL for cash game and those games have absolutely crushed me into pieces.

I am a fairly advanced player of poker because I do know a lot about the game and have played it for a while. However, I want to improve my game and get a lot better. What is one book, video, tutorial or resource you can suggest that can help you crush cash games up to 500 NL or so?

Thx

You can not focus on the money, you just have to follow the game. I definitely agree here. I always focused on the money and what spot I was in, not anymore just roll with it and relax while playing it will all come to you in time.

I feel like anyone asking these questions should probably not be playing that high, if you are talking about online atleast.

Are you a winning player?

It is right focus on each game and play the best you can. A poker game is a marathon and not a sprint same goes with making money as poker player

I play mainly live in house games or cash games. I'm not a winning player as of now and that's why I'm trying to see what resources can make me better.

For live cash games, I do recommend books. There are many poker cash game books out there.

What books are the best to read or most suggested?

I hear Ed Miller's small stakes cash games book is good, I have it but have not yet read it as its for small stakes as opposed to where I play at the moment and have other more fundamental books to study first.

Essentially there are lots of books available out there though regarding cash games. I mean Dan Harington has a couple as well, many are focused towards online cash games but essentially are applicable to live play as well strategy wise obviously.

Have you looked at playing some online cash games to work on your game whenever you want to and gain experience at the tables? Obv you wouldn't be playing for such high stakes online as you do live, 100/300nl live your talking 10nl or below online, often 2nl and 5nl but I think in a smaller environment such as home games you will have more folks knowing how to play so 10nl might be an ok comparison.

500nl live would probably compare to 25nl online, but again if the 500nl live is with the same folks that you play 100 or 300nl with then its technically all the same.

In any means the books you will want to read depend on your current knowledge and where you want to improve based on what issues you are currently running into that you feel and that are preventing you from being a winning player?

If tilt is an issue I'd recommend Jared Tendlers "The Mental Game of Poker", have read his 1st one and its very good and give's lots of insight and things to help work on tilt.

Perhaps its more fundamentals on the math side that might assist you to improve your game, and there are some decent books out there for that. I have currently just started "The math of holdem" a colin moshman book (also a coauthor i don't recall the name at the moment) which even just a chapter in I know is something that I have been wanting to sync my teeth into and learn more.

Maybe you just play too lose and night to tighten up your game, or don't have good brm for the games and always playing on scared money etc.

Let us know some details of your game and I'm sure we could provide some additional information or suggestions.

Example: Harrington on cash games.

And others. Every book has its own new ideas

I would have to argue that training videos like DC or CardRunners, along with open discussion on a forum like this, far exceed the benefits of reading a static book written during a time of poker theory that is now outdated.
