I have been playing for years I play at a local casino. It is a 1-2 blind no limit 200 buy in max. Everyone buys in for 200 most of the time me included. I play a very solid game if I catch a good hand I am great at setting the trap also because im committed then. I love to limp in with big starting hands to hide my strength and will call a bet pre flop. I don't raise to much pre flop alot of times because I don't have to someone else will. I would say there are a fair amount of loose and few tight players.

Well I typically play the flop I get ak in my hands 2-6-8 comes out I fold even if its a 5 dollar bet as I would have to catch runner runner to make my hand. And typically if I don't catch something to go with on the flop im out of the hand.

When I do catch a nice pair or what ever I always get someone putting in 60 on the river and i cant bring my self to call if I could be beaten semi easy.

Seems like I bleed chips way 15 here 7 there 10 there. I mean I get a decent amount of starting hands worth playing but I don't get the flops alot or to draw off of.

Am I being way to tight post flop? Ideas guys im sure you know the playing im describing.

you sound like a typical live fish.

-- don't limp big hands
-- don't trap, especially in loose passive games
-- try to think of people's ranges, not if "you can be beaten semi easy." There are plenty of times you should call (or raise!) with marginal hands.

No need to hide your strength if people are playing loose.
If you raise pre and someone calls if a 268 flop comes out they probably didnt hit either. Start thinking more about what your opponents have. Dont be so passive. Throw some bets out there and maybe they dont put $60 on the river. Watch some online videos and pick up a book or two. Sounds like you didnt learn much more than hand rankings when you picked up poker..

xUnrated your right I may not learned as much as I would of liked over time I am not a loosing poker player if I am hitting hands I am great at getting paid off. But my struggles happen when im not hitting great flops or not hitting the flop 5 times in a row for example.

I have read a few books I guess I might not apply as much as I know to poker. I think its the fear of loosing the money being to aggressive at the wrong time.

Play lower limits then. Nothing worse than playing with scared money.

Also read Phil Gordon's Little Green Book.

Play lower limits then.

Unlikely you can find limits lower than 1/2 live.

OP should actually play online for a while to learn the game at cheap stakes before going back to his casino.

Ahh yea, my bad.

I would also recommend playing smaller micro games online before dropping $200 in a live cash game.

I don't know much about US live poker, but in the UK Grosvenor casinos offer 50/1 live poker games. I usually play in the Birmingham one. It's full of fish.

For aggression, the worst thing you could do is try to be more aggressive just for the sake of it. Don't underplay your strong hands. If you have AK, and there's a preflop raise, don't be scared to raise them. If they call, and the flop is low like you said, then it's possible you have the best hand. If you have position, and they check, C Bet. If you don't have position, I would check-raise with AK.

Just throw out tester bets. A lot of the time, people will fold.

Open raise, reraise with premium hands.
Squeeze.
Continuation bet frequently.
Bet about 3/4 pot instead of pot.
Check-raise instead of c-betting occasionally to make your regular checks appear threatening.
Use your raises to keep good players out of the hand, and pound the weak calling stations.
Bet at weakness.
Bet strong draws.
Bet scary boards.
Check raise bluff (rarely).
Try NOT to get big money in with weak hands, but give the impression that you will.

I use to have this same problem... I would bleed chips away hand by hand by limping or folding bigger raises when i hit top pair even, lol. I changed the way i played mostly cause ive aquired a bankroll that i dont have to worry bout losing to a $50 raise and i can throw bets out there whenever, I play 1-2 live $200 4 days a week. My total poker bankroll is around 6k now so that really helps. Also for me when i first started i use to get nervous and just kinda liked to hide at the table and trap instead of dictating the game my way. Now i changed my personality and i throw feeler bets outs all the time. Just when you get to the table throw some chips around ( smartly ) and being aggressive will start to come natural. You will also gain confidence in your play.
